Thunderbird 31.4 duplicates email for Google Mail
I use Thunderbird for several email accounts, and only my school's Google Mail account duplicates email. The account connects to imap.googlemail.com using my .edu email address. Email gets duplicated into the Inbox, All Mail and Important folders. For example, if I delete an email from the Inbox, it is still in the All Mail and Important folders. If I delete the same email from the All Mail folder, it is still be in the Important folder.

This isn't a problem, it's a Gmail feature. Understand how Gmail labels work. https://support.google.com/mail/answer/77657?hl=en https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6581?hl=en
If you don't care about 'All Mail' and 'Important' folders unsubscribe from them in Thunderbird.
Thanks, Dave.
I didn't need to delete my existing account in Thunderbird. Once I changed the settings in GMail, and then refreshed Thunderbird, those silly folders disappeared.
I also tested your settings for Sent Mail, and GMail did save the message in the Sent folder, which Thunderbird synced down to my local copy.
Thanks for "translating" the Google ignorance. :)
Tom
Pleasure, glad it helped.
