Each time I try to download something off Mozilla, it starts downloading for a second then just stops and says "unknown time remaining" and will never continue. I have tried to restart the download and even re-download it but nothing happens.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
