Thunderbird downloading message(s) automatically when option selection is blank (unchecked)

I have not chosen the Server option for Thunderbird to automatically download messages yet if Thunderbird is running, simply sitting it downloads new messages automatically. I prefer to manually choose when to download messages.

This just started happening with V 31.0.

Ideas?

Check under account settings -> Server Settnigs -> Advanced. If you have checked the option to use IDLE command if the server supports it, Thunderbird gets new emails pushed from the server when new messages arrive.
