How do I sort Bookmarks?

Sorting Bookmarks doesn't work. I've followed the instructions at:
However, when I go to move a Bookmark with my mouse, it just snaps back to where it was. How can I manually rearrange Bookmarks?

Where are you doing the sorting?
It should work in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
I'm doing the sorting in the Bookmarks Sidebar.
The Knowledge Base document says that "The sort order in the Library window is for viewing purposes only, and will not be reflected in the Bookmarks sidebar or Bookmarks menu".

That is only the case if you use the Views menu (the name says it) or click column headers to do the sorting. If you use the right-click context menu just like you do in the sidebar then the bookmarks will be sorted permanently.
I tried cutting and pasting in the Library window, but it doesn't work either. I'm starting to think that this is a bug in Firefox.

Did you check for problems with places.sqlite?
I've exported and re-imported the bookmarks, and I've also deleted places.sqlite*, but neither has done any good.
Does Firefox even allow sorting of Bookmarks?

SortPlaces doesn't seem to have the ability to rearrange bookmarks manually. I've sent an email to the developer.
