Yahoo search has hijacked my search bar after installing youtube downloader. Have tried changing 'browser.search.defaultenginename'; 'browser.search.selectedEngine'; & 'keyword.URL'; but does not fix problem, Yahoo takes over after restarting Firefox.

Am suspect at other entries in about:config like:

'browser.search.param.yahoo-fr; chr-greentree_ff&type=937811&ilc=12'

But resetting, changes Value to 'moz35' which does not fix either.

You can't MAKE people use your search engine! This is not a good business model, as I could not be more pissed off at Yahoo right now!!!!

Got tired of trying to figure it out. Reinstall worked...

And BTW Yahoo was default search engine when typed into address bar after reinstall. Changing keyword.URL to default (changes to no/blank entry) fixes that to whatever search engine you have selected.

If you have only fixed the browser issue then it's worth following these instructions through to remove this application completely (uninstalling youtube downloader isn't enough).

This is the fairly malicious company behind it: http://www.spigot.com/ - in future I would strongly recommend avoiding having anything to with them
