Firefox sync continues to sync my history even though I unclicked history in preferences: how do I fix this?

I unclicked history in sync options within the firefox sync preferences and reset the sync from my local data. To check this I used firefox home on my ipod touch 2g using ios4, signing out and signing back in(supposed to do a full clear of local data). Everything else updated to reflect changes I had made: the history remained the same. I am using firefox 3.6.6, firefox sync version 1.4.1 on windows 7 home premium.
