Many times, using Microsoft IE, I have selected & copied a date and a figure from two boxes on an internet site and then pasted them into my MS Access table, with the date & the figure automatically going into separate columns. When I use Firefox, both go into the one column and cell. Why? How can I overcome it?

Use the Table2Clipboard extension for that.

Thanks very much. I have downloaded Table2Clipboard & am trying to work out how to use it. The headings in the box that appears from Tools has no meaning for me. Sorry about that - I'm a Firefox beginner. I'll keep working on it. I'm trying to copy to Excel, not Access as i wrongly said in my original question.
