"Connection Settings" disappears in Firefox v152.0b[6?]. Do we now use about:config to manually set a proxy?

I'm a beta update channel user, so this may not reflect what 'normal' users are seeing. I use Firefox in Linux, debian v13, so normal people that are using Windows or MacOS also might not see the changes I'm asking about? -- I have no way of knowing.

Anyway: in FF v152.0b6, the "Connection Settings" area seems to have disappeared entirely from the settings menu. I used this area of the settings frequently.

The ability to set proxy still exists in the about:config settings area. In the future, will about:config be the standard place to go for people that want to manually set (or toggle) an http/https proxy?

Thanks for reading, and thanks to all the Volunteers who make this place and Mozilla software function. I use your stuff all day, every day, and my life is better because of it.

No, no plan to edit manually, settings are getting moved about as feedback comes in: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/the-redesign-of-settings-is-now-enabled-by-default-in-nightly/td-p/125382

There was a bug these did not appear in search results, but no reports of that missing completely — could you mention it in the thread above so the folks working on it are aware and can track it down? Thanks!

For the record, the "Network settings" section of Firefox settings was renamed "Proxy settings" in Firefox 149. See Connection settings in Firefox.

The article needs an update for Firefox 152 since those settings have moved from the "General" panel to the "Privacy and Security" panel Connection and software security section. "Proxy settings" are available when you click on "Advanced settings". "Connection Settings" will open when you click "Configure proxy".

Yes indeed AliceWyman, the proxy stuff is in "Connection and software security." Thank you for that! So it appears the only problem is that the "Find in Settings" doesn't know to direct searchers into that area.

I will go to the "settings redesign" thread mentioned by jbr, and point this out.

Thanks much to the two of you!

Yup search was broken: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2038749 — will ship in this week's beta or the next.

Thanks again. :)
