Bookmarks menu on toolbar does not show the same bookmarks as those displayed from bookmarks sidebar
I have a bookmarks menu link on the bookmarks toolbar. When I save a new bookmark to one of the folders it does not appear. It does appear when I click on the saved history icon. However, if I open the bookmarks sidebar from the history icon and navigate to the same folder, the new bookmark appears but it is missing many other bookmarks that are in the other folder.. I can also save the bookmark to the toolbar and it appears there. Also I can cut an paste the bookmark from the toolbar to the folder. I've tried disabling add-ons and that doesn't fix the problem. There clearly are two sets of bookmarks. How do point Firefox to the one I want?

You may be able to cut and paste everything in the folder at once if you use the Library window -- Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks". Use the left column for switching between folders and do your cutting and pasting in the right column.

Hi Ellaryk, this is an odd problem. Let me start by saying that there are three top level "containers" that you will see in the Bookmarks Sidebar:
- Bookmarks Toolbar (horizontal bar below the main toolbar)
- Bookmarks Menu (drop-down menu on the optional Top menu bar [Alt+b] or optional Bookmarks menu button [])
- Other Bookmarks
Those cannot be renamed (when you right-click, the Properties option is disabled) and are the real ones.
It's possible to have folders within those containers with similar or duplicate names, which certainly would be confusing and could be what is happening on your Firefox. However, that's just a guess. You can tell from your Sidebar whether the "Bookmarks Menu" on your toolbar and on the menu bar are linked or are two separate things with the same name.
When I open the Bookmarks menu from the sidebar I see all of my folders. But when I click on the Bookmarks menu icon on the toolbar I don't see any folders, just bookmarks. And they're not the same bookmarks. So what's up with that? Also, the Bookmarks folder on the bookmarks toolbar has properties. I think it was created when I imported Bookmarks from Chrome. So I see the issue there. Is there a way to merge them together other than cutting and pasting each one?

Thanks. That was very helpful.
