Error 4.7.1 when attempting to send mail

more options

I get the error message whenever I attempt to send mail from any of my Thunderbird email accounts. I can use my internet mail to send a test mail. Receiving mail is ok on Thunderbird. The problem has happened after Thunderbird was not used for 5 days.

Keazen oplossing

That message is from the server and it implies you have already sent more than the quota allowed via that email address.

How large *is* the "quota"?

How can I change this?

What server settings are you using for the acounts you have setup? In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Under 'Mail and News Accounts' section. Copy all that section and paste info in this forum question.

THE DIRTY RATS!  :-)

Sorry, I don't mean to become emotional. As Stan Laurel used to say, "Life isn't short enough!"

Nevertheless, Westhost recently switched my hosting account to cPanel, after a 10+-year association, assuring me "everything will work better." When I complained about my email being shut down (I have a750 name newsletter), they told me it was Mozilla's fault!! (I knew he was blowing smoke and realized I wasn't getting anywhere with him.)

I have attached a transcription of my interaction with them yesterday.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

-Peter An unhappy camper.

It would seem you were talking to someone whose knowledge is 'limited'. It might be worthwhile informing them that Mozilla Thunderbird is just a program that runs on a computer. It is an email client. It does not have a server. The only server that deals with sent mail is the chimail.westhost.com smtp server and the error message is from their server and it is explicit in stating the reason. You have sent more than allowed quota. This has nothing to do with you sending spam, but westhost themselves have put the quota in place as one method to deter spammers. It would seem the limits on quota are less than what you tried to send, so perhaps the cpanel option is not going to meet your requirements. I would say you were badly advised to move to the option - cpanel - when it would fail to provide the service you require.

If you choose to remain using cpanel option, then I would subdivide your list and send it out in batches on different days at least 24 hours apart.

Yes. And that person has been chosen to provide technical support to their customers. 'Nuff said.
