I recently updated Thunderbird and the tags I was using had to be set up again. In the past there was always the option to add a number to each tag so that I could control the order of the tags and that option has disappeared. The order of the tags is now alphabetized. Is it possible to get the ability to control the order of tags without having to rename each tag so they fall into the order I want?

There is a SortTags add-on. To install it in TB 60, you may have to switch the preference extensions.strictCompatibility to false in Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor (double-click a preference to toggle its value).

Doesn't work... I was able to complete the "extensions.strictCompatibility to false" (even though an alert popped up telling me that all warranties would be voided if done) and the add-on was installed. Two restarts later and still no ability to number the tags :(

The add-on works here: when you move a tag up or down in the sort window, the number, i.e. keyboard shortcut, assigned to the tag increases or decreases. In that way, a number is 'added' to a tag.
