A few seconds? Really? The default is 5 minutes and since you do not know how to turn it off i would guess it is still set at 5 minutes

From the Menu bar, press the alt key if hidden, Tools-Options-Composition-General Turn off Auto Save or change time.

If using the AppMenu Button (3 horizontal lines) click the AppMenu Button-Hover over Options-Select Options-Composition-General
