When I open Thunderbird all I get is the Account Summary and I cannot get the normal e-mail page to display.

I have tried to follow the instructions to disable the Account Summary add-on but none of them will work. If I click Tools, Add-Ons no menu is displayed, nothing happens. If I try the suggested 're-start Thunderbird with add-ons disabled' solution this will not work either, nothing happens, it does not re-start. I am just stuck with the Account Summary and nothing else will work!

Extensions can be removed via the Add-ons Manager. Tools (Alt-T) - Add-ons - Extensions

This is generic for all extensions, there are no specific steps for certain extensions.
