trouble saving bookmarks and backing them up

I have used Mozilla for years. In the last several weeks I have been having trouble with bookmarks. This since my latest upgrade. I can't save bookmarks and I have lost 90% of my saved bookmarks. I have some of them saved in my bookmark folder but when I try and restore them it says the file is not usable. I unistalled the program and reinstalled with the same problem still there. Please help!!

Solution choisie

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can check if you still have a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups with the lost bookmarks.
You can look at the file size.

Firefox automatically saves 10 bookmark backups.

....and your point is. I can't manually save bookmarks nor can I restore my saved bookmarks

Thanks folks. It worked and I can restore and save again. I lost a lot of them permanently but they are replaceable.
