the Inbox is now alphabetized according to subject

I accidentally clicked on something at the top of the Inbox messages and suddenly everything was alphabetized. I've tried several times to figure out what happened and to get it back without bothering you, but have had no success. Now, of course, because I've tried so many things, the Inbox is really goofed up. Can you help me reset the Inbox so I don't have to go to All Mail to see my messages? I like having current messages at the top.

Solution choisie

It would be easier to answer your question if you showed us a screen shot of how it looks now, but the general solution is to click on the "Message List Display Options" icon to the right and choose "Sort by..." whatever criteria you want, in this case probably Date, Descending, Unthreaded. You can also get to these options from the main menu <View | Sort By...>. If the menu bar is hidden, press <Alt> or <F10> to reveal it.
