Are there post-world cup plans for the sports widget?
I enjoyed the functionality of the sports widget during the world cup. Are there any plans to make it useful for other sports? is there some kind of API to mess around with to build your own firefox homescreen widgets? I'd love to see MLB schedules/scores/updates populated on the new tab page.

Hi,
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers. When a Mozilla employee jumps into a discussion, you'll see the Mozilla Staff label next to their name.
If you wish, you can leave feedback for developers on the Mozilla Connect website. Click the Firefox Menu
button in the toolbar, click Help and select Share ideas and feedback…. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback is collected by a team that reads it and gathers data on the most common issues.
You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

thanks, I kinda figured as much but wasn't sure where this kinda inquiry would go
The general direction is mentioned in:
An idea for general sport/API functionality is tracked in:
While the current footie widgets are closely tied to some internal systems so they won't be reused in the present day incarnation as–is, in general the idea is yes to enable more generic functionality for the widgets to either have users customize the data sources or for developers to provide some form of flexibility to be able to provide their own tailored widget code.
All pending the uptake, usage, and feedback for the current and future rollouts. So if you see these additions as worth to you, please do make sure you submit your feedback if asked and pitch in in the Connect idea threads that seem worth considering — to help inform the utility and usefulness of these endeavors.
