How do I change Thunderbird's icon back to the older version? The new version looks a lot like Signal's icon. When I have a taskbar full of icons, I have to look carefully to make sure I'm selecting the correct icon for the app I want to switch to. It's annoying. Thanks

Thanks David! Yes, Windows. Sorry for not mentioning that. I'm also running the portable version of Thunderbird, if that matters. I tired just making a shortcut of Thunderbird and changing it's icon, which worked for the link on the taskbar, but not for the running executable. Thanks again!

I am assuming windows: I also assume you have created a desired ico file
- click to the locate of the exe file, thunderbird.exe
- in that folder is a folder named chrome and in that is a folder named icons and in that folder is a folder named default
- RENAME the messengerWindow.ico to something else
- place your icon there, rename to messengerWindow.ico, AND rightclick and make sure that it is UNBLOCKED
- next, on windows desktop, rightclick the thunderbird icon, select properties and click 'rename'
- select that icon and click 'apply'
- done
