Cannot send email with latest version, no error message. Can send with 45.1.1

When I hit send, nothing happens with newer versions of Thunderbird. I cancel the send and try again. still nothing. I uninstalled and installed 45.1.1. When I try to send a message the 1st time it does nothing. I cancel and then after that I can send all messages.

What anti virus do you use? That sounds mighty like what Norton users experience with monotonous regularity after almost every update because of the way the firewall component works.

I have Kaspersky.

Have you checked it's firewall is allowing Thunderbird version 54.4... or is it stuck on 54.1.1 Hence you can send with one and not the other.

Have you tried with it's email scanner disabled. see https://support.kaspersky.com/us/8167

And before you re-enable it ask your self what is the point of scanning outgoing mail with a scanner that says you have no virus. If it can not find it on your system it is sure not going to suddenly find it in your outgoing mail.

I changed the Kaspersky settings and it still does not work.
