Thunderbird won't save outgoing emails in Sent box - says it's full but it isn't

Thunderbird refuses to save outgoing emails in the Sent box, claiming that the box is full and telling me to compress it and delete/archive old emails. I have done both actions but the problem continues. As a stop gap I have to remember to copy myself into all outgoing emails, so I have a record, but this is becoming a big nuisance! Can anyone advise please?

Check account-settings / copies & folders where a copy should go. You can also enter your address as bcc , here if you want a copy sent to you.

I would also check your server and there limits.

Thanks Gnospen. I have already checked the account settings and they are indeed set up to save a copy of outgoing emails in the Sent box. I have already been doing the bcc trick as an interim measure. I don't think the server has a limit but anyway that's not the problem here which is purely a Thunderbird one. Sent emails do not appear in my webmail as they are sent from Thunderbird.

If it's an IMAP-account and if you have the sent-folder as a folder in your account and use that as your destination then the server will be in play.

Some times you need to sort things out on server-level, like emptying trash and compact inbox, sent etc.

If its a POP-account or the sent-folder is in your local folder-area then this is probably a Thunderbird question.

Please tell us your setup.

Go offline Try moving ALL your sent-mail to a local folder then compact. Empty cache (Ctrl+Shift+Del or Tools/Clear Resent History) Go Online

I will try this later and let you know if I succeed! Thank you. It is a POP account

Right click your send folder. Select properties.

What is the size on disk?
