After adding a second PC to the sync account, I want to force a sync DOWN to the new/2nd PC but not UP to the 1st PC registered. How is this assured when asking to sync?

hello KRS03, sync works in both directions and will merge the data of both installations. what you could do is to create a new profile on the new pc before you connect it to the existing account, so there is no outgoing data to be synced from it...

Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

Philipp,

I guess that's the way it works and seemingly no one else sees it as a problem. I can't use the sync in this fashion though. Creating new profiles is not a simple matter or even desirable. I prefer the "Master-Slave" approach where one machine keeps the up-to-date information (most-used PC obviously) and the tablet and 2nd PC get the updates. So I guess I cannot use the sync on them.

If I do not hit "Tools / Sync Now" on the 2nd PC I assume I will never have the issue of the 2nd PC updating my master Sync Data (cloud data)?

How does one know which way the sync will go, up or down? If I choose to "sync now" on my 1st/main PC will it force an upload or a download?

I guess I'm too new to this concept but it seems there could be many ways in which it could work, but no options when using Firefox.

TIA. Chris
