Firefox 24.xx how can i install an addon for all users silent?

Hello with firefox 17 i could copy the new extension to the folder <programs>\mozilla firefox\extension named <extension id>.xpi. When i restart firefox, it asked me to install the extension. With firefox 24 this doesn't work. Any hints? regards Bernhard

Try: <programs>\mozilla\firefox\browser\extensions

That was changed a number of versions in the past, not a brand new change.

BTW, Firefox 25.0 was released this past Tuesday morning.

this link helped me. •http://mike.kaply.com/2012/02/09/integrating-add-ons-into-firefox/ With FF 17 I only placed the .xpi file in the extension directory and the installation unpacked it. Now with FF 24 (ESR) I must unpack it myself an placed it in the extension directory.
