Some websites do not load or improperly load now. Seems to have happened arbitrarily one day. Doesn't happen on my I phone., nor with IE.

This has happened to only two sites that I can document. I will get a normal web page (sometimes) on the one (www.wahalla.se/) and sign in. Then the site is a white screen with links (blue, underlined) to the various sub-forums. I get a message that I have to sign in (again), and nothing happens when I do. Site works with IE and my cell phone (I phone 3GS). The other site had been hacked by Anonymous earlier in the year. I get a 404 on that site; again, it is accessible in IE and on my I phone. I've done all the troubleshooting suggestions, used cccleaner, spybot, etc. regularly, kept my Avast! current, but no luck. These are the only two sites that I seem to have trouble with. I prefer to use Firefox over IE and my desktop over my cell phone, but I am at a loss. I do have a screenshot, but cannot post it, as it is too long.

Chosen solution

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.
