when I make a change to about:config it does not save

There may be a problem with the file that stores details of the preferences, for details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Preferences+are+not+saved
Thanks I had to delete the .js files as in the info somehow during the conversion from FF3 to FF4 they must have gotten corrupt. all I;ve had to do is redo some of my settings.
