linux fullscreen behavior wrong

tfwplssub

Both F11 and right click full screen doesn't hide the url+tabs rows like it does on windows instead it only hides bookmark toolbar and triggers the window manager full screen, which should be separate, as I already have my window manager keybinds for that, and if I use window manager full screen F11 would currently undo it

Tested on i3, Xorg without window manager, and sway

Expected behavior: After firefox is full screen in window manager, pressing F11 should hide everything except the webpage, making it 100% of the monitor

Actual behavior: toggles window manager full screen status

arch linux, firefox installed through pacman

Hello!

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

Since you've already tested this on i3, Sway, and Xorg without a window manager, it seems that this might be related to how Firefox handles fullscreen mode on Linux.

Could you please check the following?

1. Open Firefox and navigate to `about:config`. 2. Search for `browser.fullscreen.autohide`. 3. Make sure this preference is set to `true`. 4. Restart Firefox and test F11 again.

If that doesn't help, could you also provide:

- Your Firefox version (`about:support`). - Whether you're running Firefox under X11 or Wayland. - Whether the issue also occurs in Firefox Troubleshoot Mode.

Please note that F11 normally toggles Firefox's fullscreen mode, which may also change the window manager's fullscreen state. It isn't necessarily a separate shortcut for hiding Firefox's toolbars.

With kind regards (You can also try downloading another gecko-based browser to see if the error does only occur on firefox or also in forks)

Seems like that setting fixes it, it has a restore button but was default setting shipped and verified it's default even in troubleshoot mode, and same behavior with librewolf from pacman install, which I already tested before posting but forgot to include

it still toggles with the window manager's fullscreen state which I guess isn't that bad for me now but this behavior https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1607040 has been open for 6 years in bugzilla

Actually I didn't test the window manager fullscreen button, I still want to be able to make firefox the entire screen without hiding the top bars
