Thunderbird Android not pushing new notifications

If you use an imap connection to the server, have you tried enabling the "Push" service which gives immediate email notifications. See guide below. Note this is not supported with pop connections.

If you've not already done so, you should allow the app to run in the background and exclude it from any android battery optimisation. Exact steps vary by phone manufacturer and Android version. Try long pressing the TB launcher icon > app info > battery usage

thank you.... yes I am on imap have already done all that....

it seems to be very hit and miss as to whether the push messaging part works.... sometimes when I open the app I see no new emails until I swipe down from the top to refresh, sometimes with the app open I dont get a new test mail.....sometimes I do..... sometimes I get no notification or new messages (no notification in the top bar, no badge counter), sometimes I do .....it just doesnt seem to have any logic or even follow a set pattern

All I want is to have a reliable email app that allows multi-layered folders, non-chat style messages and reliability I have tried a great many other apps and apart from the phones' built in Samsumg mail app this is the only one that ticks all the boxes Is it a TB problem or is it an outlook one?

As an experiment I added my Gmail account to Thunderbird.... Gmail messages are received consistently every time Outlook account messages are still sporadic....sometimes coming in sometimes not So it would APPEAR to be an issue between Thunderbird and Outlook.....but what ???...and more importantly what can I do about it.....

I have added Samsung default mail app (which I understand is not a client but an overlay to the outlook mail servers) and this too is also sporadic and requires opening in order to fetch messages as does the Thunderbird app which in addition also requires a screen top drag down to display the new messages. The outlook app notifies correctly every time but I have found it unsuitable as it wont allow me to have the multi layered folders that I need and a couple of other layout issues.....also of course there is the constant notification of a new <advertising> email....I tried a subscription last year which removed those but still could not have the folder layout needed and a coupleof other issues. The TB app does work for a while but then new push notifications just seem to stop and yes, I do have the required battery / sleep settings correctly set

So, it would still appear to be a TB to Outlook problem

Thanks, have raised Issue #11678 and note there are several closed tickets simply stating that it is a sporadic problem....which doesnt really help
