What options are available to keep a an email account sync on servers (IMAP) for current email and save archived content on my drives (POP) so that I could move them back and forth between the two?

I have some Gmail accounts that are approaching the size limit, but I still use them, and want to keep them. Much of the content is archive material, and I might occasionally want to search and retrieve from it, but I do not need to have it remain and taking up space on the servers, as I could store this on my drives and do this offline. What options are available to keep a an email account synced on their servers (IMAP) for current email content and save archived content on my drives (POP), preferabl;y so that I could move them back and forth between the two?
