Apply Update button appears when Firefox is up to date
Whenever I update Firefox, the "Apply Update" button still appears under Help->About Firefox. This has happened when updating to 6.0, 6.01 and 6.02 and on 3 computers (two Windows 7 64-bit and one Windows XP). Each time, I've applied this fix described in https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/850542#answer-216220, i.e. deleting the updates\0 folder, etc., but the problem has reappeared after each update.

I don't know if it's relevant, but Firefox seems to start up a lot more quickly just after the fix has been applied than before.
This is still happening after updating to 7.0.1.
I assume that you aren't running Firefox as Administrator if the update can't be applied.
Did you ever try in that case to run Firefox once as Administrator to get write permission to the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) ?
Thanks for replying.
I don't normally run Firefox as admin and don't have write permission to the Firefox program folder. There's no problem in actually appling the update once I've gone through te procedure in the fix linked to above. The problem is that the "Apply Update" button stll appears after the update's been done and it doesn't automatically detect any subsequent updates.
