Critical UI regression and usability issues in recent rollout
Dear Thunderbird Developers,
I am writing to express my frustration regarding the recent UI changes. After the latest update, the standard toolbar icons (Get Messages, Write, Address Book, reply, etc.) completely disappeared for me, leaving behind nothing but a search bar. Even using the "Restore Default Set" option fails to bring the essential navigation buttons back. While I can eventually fix these issues as a power user, these constant, breaking UI changes are a major problem for average users. For instance, my 65-year-old mother relies on a stable interface. Every time a rollout breaks the visual layout or hides basic functions, she is unable to use her email until I step in to fix what the update messed up.
Forcing users to manually rebuild their primary navigation toolbar after an update is not a "feature"—it’s a regression that alienates long-time especially elderly users who need reliability over constant redesigns. Please prioritize UI stability and ensure that "Reset to Default" actually restores a functional set of icons.
If you need further information I'll be glad to hear and hope you can give me an easy fix for this problem.

A couple of things you can do to mitigate that:
- Stick to the Extended Support Release (ESR) versions. There will be no significant UI changes for at least a year.
- Make sure that Auto-Update is turned off (in Windows <Tools | Settings | General | Updates | Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them>.
First of all thank you! I will do that. Unfortunately this doesn't solve a very important problem i addressed. I would call myself a Poweruser an even I think that this search bar that replaced the whole toolbar is absolutely inconvenient. And now imagine a 60+ person like mi mom or perhaps your Nana that's sitting on her computer and now she can't use her Emailprogramm any more. Thas a punch in the face for them how can your developers assume that they could handle that alone?! You should definitely consider a rollback and adding different presets in the toolbar settings. Also you definitely give your users the option to update and keep their familiar UI and the option to "try" the new UI and I insist on the word "try" because they should be able to go back to their known UI. I really hope this will find its way into the developer meetings because or parents grandparents aunts and uncles deserve more peace when dealing with computers and I hope that especially you folks at Mozilla understand this.
