"The downloaded video file is not a Divx file" What to do about this?
I am trying to watch TV shows/videos in Divx, but I keep getting this message
"The downloaded video file is not a Divx file".

Divx Player - Version 6.8.2
Divx Web Player - Version 1.4.0
Using Mozilla Firefox 28.0 (x86 en-us)
And just in case this is interfering somehow
VLC Media Player 1.1.11

Lensflare,
It's most likely your internet connection. I use streaming sites such as that and it takes a while to load and I'm on a 50mbps download speed! ;)

Hi,
If it happens in every browser you have, then it's not a Firefox issue. It's a problem with the DivX player itself.
What video are you trying to play?
If I can reproduce it, then it's the video that isn't encoded properly.

Trying to watch Game of Thrones http://vidbux.com/j6quyuu8x47c http://movreel.com/wf0yc86nhjam
It's also happening with Divx videos at 180 Upload, Movreel etc.. I've been having this problem for a while, but decided I can't put it off any longer since my satellite service is off.
In case this helps, I have two extensions; Greasemonkey 1.15 and YesScript 1.9.1. I don't have any User Scripts installed.
Ah, okay.
Off-topic here but I actually use watchseries.lt
It has all the episodes of every TV show the day after it airs.
Let me test to see if this'll work on my computer.
Works fine for me.
Can I have your troubleshooting information?

This actually sounds like something that the DivX support team should deal with
However, you can try uninstlaling then reinstalling the DivX package to see if that helps. Other users on the DivX have reported success with that method.
Should I reinstall the older model or upgrade to a newer one?
Upgrade to the newer one since that's probably what's going on.
You can download at divx.com.
Okay, I downloaded the lastest Divx and tried to play the video. Now I got this
"A plugin is needed to display this content"
Any plugins you can think of?
Make sure DivX plugin is set to Always Activate.
Firefox button > Addons > Plugins
Thank you so much. Things seem to be working now. One thing though (this might be my internet connection itself), some videos look like it will take a while to buffer, while others do not. "Salem" came on with out much waiting, while "Game of Thrones" may take some time to buffer. We'll see.
it's a plugin problem . so , you should work with the plug - ins.
