That really isn't a Firefox support issue.

Open the Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. On the Volume tab, check-mark the item for Place volume icon on the taskbar (or something similar - I use WinXP, not Vista - but it should be in a similar location and have a similar title for that preference).
