Firefox clipboard stores images as .webp

This is causing issues with many apps e.g. Messenger. Can't mozilla implement a converter so that when you copy an image it is stored in the clipboard as a .png? Chromium works fine

Hello,

.webp images (and .webm videos) are highly compressed so that they take up as little space as is possible. Websites implement this feature, which modern browsers say that they support, so that it uses less data.

To the converter question, please go to ideas.mozilla.org in order to ask for this, as many people helping here are not part of Firefox development.

So my only alternative until mozilla decides to fix it is use chrome?

Not necessarily,

You may be able to disable webp images, therefore eliminating the problem by going to about:config and disabling webp. Instructions will follow under the warning below.

WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Firefox pref from the about:config page can sometimes break Firefox or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing.

Please read Firefox Advanced Customization and Configuration Options to learn more.

To disable webp, set image.webp.enabled to false

I submitted the idea, I hope mozilla takes notice. Disabling webp will make my browsing slower. Thank you
