Hello, I just checked one of my sent folders, and have discovered that each email I have sent has a duplicate email. I checked and the persons I am sending the emails to are only receiving one email.

Would you guys help me to delete the duplicate emails, and to fix this issue? Is this a bug with the latest version of Thunderbird?

I have the latest version of Thunderbird 78.9.0 (32-bit) and am using a Windows 10 PC. I am accessing a Yahoo! email account from TB.

Thanks.

Gmail auto puts a copy of sent emails in the server 'Sent' folder and has done this for qute a while. This means the account in Thunderbird does not need to make a copy. If you selected for Tunderbird to create a copy then people do experience two copies showing up in 'Sent'. So, no it is not a bug. Recently, it has been noticed that some other servers seem to be doing a similar thing.

  • Right click on yahoo mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select 'Copies & Folders'
  • uncheck 'Place a copy in:'

Restart Thunderbird to ensure it has all been saved and being used. Create and Send an email as a test to another mail account or a friend willing to help test. Then check the server 'Sent' folder via webmail and you should only see the one copy.

Hello Toad-Hall, Thank you for your reply. I was going to try your fix, but now the issue has disappeared. I think the issue was server side with Yahoo! as you mentioned. Thanks, Michael
