Thunderbird not downloading messages

Hi After an update from ver. 68 to 78 Thunderbird stopped downloading emails from mail server. It says it is connected to my account but no messages get downloaded. Tried erasing all the emails from the server through webmail, did not help...Tried complete uninstall and a new installation, still the same...? Many thanks. Kind regards Milo.
