Firefox doesn't retain history and settings on Youtube for some reason. ie. Dark Theme is reset to default, Recommended videos are reset. It loses all history and settings even if you just close the tab. It's really frustrating.

I do not do anything special with my cookies other than having "Do not track" enabled and having Ublock 1.14.24 and Ghostery installed. I have the same settings on a different laptop but that one manages to retain history and settings. How do you fix this?

Are we talking about Firefox history, or something about YouTube?

Profile data can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings; (In the address bar, type about:preferences#privacy<enter>)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Talking about in-site history and personalization like recommended videos, continue watching, saved themes and so on. It keeps resetting as if it were private browsing and the cookies are getting deleted.

Youtube has their own history logs that FF has no access to. If you want a history on Youtube make a account and then you will have a history log.
