Hi, I am running Thunderbird v. 115.9.0 on Windows 10 on my desktop. I have been forced by Rogers in Canada to migrate my internet service from their legacy internet service to Rogers Ignite with its Ignite (Comcast) gateway. My email accounts were supposed to be migrated automatically, but, for reasons unknown, were not, and a tech support representative had to migrate them from the old legacy service to Ignite. After that was done, I opened Thunderbird, and was asked to authenticate my 2 Rogers/Yahoo email accounts, one of which is my primary account, the other a secondary account. I was asked to authenticate the secondary account first, which went well. I then clicked on my primary account in the left-hand pane and was again asked to authenticate, but the dialogue box showed it was for the secondary account. Thinking that this secondary account authentication was just being repeated for no particular reason, and not thinking that the email address in the authentication request box could be changed, I clicked Agree. My primary account is now showing the exact same emails as are listed in the secondary account, and I'm extremely concerned that I will not be able to recover all of the thousands of emails in my primary account, many of which are business-related. When I log into my primary account on the Rogers/Yahoo mail website, the emails in the primary account are still showing, so I know they are still on the Rogers IMAP server. However, I really want to continue to use my primary account on Thunderbird. I'm not sure if I should delete the primary account and recreate it - the Rogers support tech said that deleting the account may result in an issue where my current password for a re-created primary account may not be recognized, so I'm leaving things as they are until I hear back. It the advice is to not delete and recreate the account, what steps can I take to recover the emails on my primary account in Thunderbird. Since the latest upgrade to 115.10.1 (64-bit) I have an issue about running Thunderbird.

From a clean Windows 11 start up it is OK but then if I then Exit and then try to run the bird again it does not start.

Digging around I discovered using Task Manager, a number of Thunderbird processes run after I had Exited. See attached.

Any thoughts?

I have installed Thunderbird 115 after following disk drive failure. I use Gmail as my mail provider and now when I try to add a recipient in the 'to' or 'cc' to a new email I want to create I don't get any auto-suggestions from my previous mail history which I used to get before. This makes the product almost useless because I can't remember every possible email address I have received and I don't always add occasional contacts details to my local address book.

Am I missing something like a setting change or something?

I received a very nice reply to my problem regarding saving passwords. The reply instructed me to reply with certain information. But the reply was marked no-reply@support.mozilla.org. This is very frustrating. Please send coherent instructions. And please read your reply yourself.

Another issue: I tried to make some text boldface, using the "B" menu selection. But instead of boldface, it simple added quote marks around that text. Looks like your website needs work. And the "i" does the same thing.

I had to delete and add back several accounts due to a change in servers (cox.net to yahoo.com). Prior to this I just had the All Folders, Local Folders and below. Now I have the Unified Folders and below, which are essentially a duplicate of the folders in the old All Folders. (See attached image) Not only is it making things confusing but I'm storing duplicate emails and it seems to be affecting performance, Thunderbird now randomly quits and restarts. So, how do I delete either the All Folders or the Unified Folders and move the few sub folders that are unduplicated into the remaining group?

Some email clients allow the user to change the subject line on an incomng email. I had a client where I could edit the subject line and then store the email in another directory. Changing the subject line allowed for a better way to find the email later on as one can change the text to something understandable and easier to seach for. Can this be done in Thunderbird or is this for the wish list? Cheers Bob

Hello, I got a tale of two computers with Thunderbird on both. First, I will start with my HP Laptop, its my primary computer due to its speed. I went to check my emails this morning. I double click on the TBird icon on my desktop. It does not open. Waited a few seconds, tried again and again. Finally, a folder containing pictures opened up. Then, I went to open FireFox, and that same folder with pictures opened. I tried this like five times and the same thing happened. Then I got to thinkin, when I went to shut it down the other day, it said "update and shut down", so I did. Now that I remembered the update, I decided to go back in time to when the laptop was running real good. So I did that recovery, in doing so, it wiped out some of the applications I had on my computer, such as FoxFire, Thunderbird, Adobe, HP printer, CCleaner, and probably others that I seldom used. Somehow, I got to the point where I reinstalled Thunderbird. The only thing is, it would not let me in. When double clicking on the icon, it took me to a page that just wanted my name, email address and password. I enter the info, that page stayed open and added a few more items to the page, such as IMAP and POP3 stuff. IMAP was already selected by Tbird. I then had the option to click "done" . In doing that, it said "Unable to log into server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" So there's that. Cannot even see the email program. Second part of the mystery, I have an old Gateway desktop. Its slower than slow. I only use it in emergencies, as the above scenario. I fire it up, wait about 5 minutes before I open Thunderbird on that. Guess what, it wants a password. Whats different about this deal is that the email opens, and I can see all my previous emails, but cannot receive or send. I have no Idea whats going on, unless its my deceased wife coming back to haunt me...I don't know.

Give that I use TB as my desktop client to access my nyu.edu email (provided by google), and that recently I updated my password as periodically requested by nyu admin When I try to access nyu email a pop up screen come up asking to authenticate with imap.gmail.com. I click next and get a 403 Access Forbidden error (Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com.)

Solutions I have tried: 1. Clear cookies, history and cache on browsers and TB; 2. Changed default browsers (Ffox, Ch, Edge); 3. Deleted account in TB and created it again using instructions here https://www.nyu.edu/servicelink/KB0016473 4. Accessed my nyu email on browser to check user name and password. It works. I can access the email.

Nothing seems to work. Still get 403 error. As a result I am unable to authenticate and hence use the email account in TB.

Good afternoon,

I recently installed Thunderbird, and it worked fine for a little while. More recently, I have been having problems with it. One of them I was able to fix after some research and trial-and-error (which was Thunderbird not letting me log into my Comcast/Xfinity email account), but this second issue is confusing. I had to remove the account to get back into it (during the first issue), so I'm guessing that must have caused this (second) problem?

When I went to check my filters/rules today (since I receive significant amounts of spam), I was shocked to see that my filters list was empty (I had about 30 or so filters in place before the first issue occurred). I'm guessing there's no way for me to get these back, and so I'll have to manually reinstate each filter "by hand"?

If there is any way to do this more easily, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your time!!

I'm using the latest version of THUNDERBIRD for WINDOWS (now 10 HOME), but this problem has existed for years with previous versions of THUNDERBIRD and former releases of WINDOWS, both HOME & PRO releases. And, it seems to be very specific. When i receive e-mails from (especially) 2 friends who both use AOL as their e-mail client, when I receive them, the imaged files (or memes) are always 'converted into attachments, and what shows in the Body Text of the e-mails is empty boxes. Yet, when I get e-mails from others, including from commercial sources, if there are images within the Body Text, they are present there. This IS very annoying because many times the e-mails I get from these two friends are technical e-mails, with clarifying images as part of the Body Text. When I have mentioned this to them, their responses are that n one else complains, only me, and so the problem MUST BE at my end, but that doesn't make sense, since when I receive e-mails from others (Gmail, etal.) any included images are fully where they belong. ++++++++++++++++++++ Secondly, WHY is it that when there are threaded e-mails in the Sent folder, the ARROW to expand the thread appears at the left side, but in the Delete folder the ARROW appears between the title of the e-mail & the next column? This IS very annoying!!!! Also, when I'm in the DELETE folder, sometimes only two options appear at the right side: Archive Delete, BUT in other incidences, there's a plethora of alternative options, and the Delete option is positioned in a different place. More often than not, I click on the option to send it e-mail to the Archive folder, when I really wanted to Delete it permanently. Another major annoyance!!!! Thank you robert herold
