As of today, I can no longer send or receive emails in Thunderbird. No settings were changed. I checked and everything is set up the way it should be. Bluehost also confirmed it all looks good.

SO WHY DID THUNDERBIRD DECIDE TO STOP WORKING TODAY? Fortunately I can still get the email within Webmail, but I prefer not to do that, since all my folders aren't set up there. Any ideas what caused this and more importantly, how can I fix it? I do have the latest version of TB.

The images show that it just sits there for a long time trying to send and then the other shows the resulting error message.

Clearing the "Recent" list when attempting to move emails used to be simple. Go to your profile while Thunderbird is NOT running and delete the panacea.dat file. It's no longer there. The only threads in the support forum suggest the same thing, but the threads are EIGHT years old. Where is the list of entries for the "Recents" folder located and how do I reset it. I have more than 20 entries, most of which I've used only ONCE. How to I clear this mess?

As an example, I might order a flashlight from a vendor. I would have received an order confirmation by email, and then might get another message when it is delivered. But depending on the vendor's practices, these messages might not say "flashlight." A year later, suppose I want to know where I ordered the flashlight. If the messages refer to an order number but do not say "flashlight", I don't have a simple way to find this out. What I would like to do, when I archive the message (or subsequently), is to edit the body (or subject) to include this keyword. Is there any straightforward way to do this in Thunderbird? Thanks for any advice.

spent a long time typing a complex mail, and due to the way the new version (115.5.0) does things, the outgoing address had a . on the end of it that wasn't visible, because it was obscured by a note that the send address wasn't in the address book, For years, I've had used BCC to get a copy back into my inbox, but now, with this latest version, if the send fails, it also doesn't forward the copy, so a mail that took over an hour to create is now lost due to the failure of the system, before now, a fail due to invalid address returned the item, so at least the body of the mail wasn't lost.

NOT impressed, this means I now have to change my system in order to not lose items by using the BCC option, it meant I knew that the server had processed the mail, now, I've no way to be sure it has truly been sent.

I spent a few hours trying all the suggestions that i found by searching. Why is it so difficult to simply DISABLE FOREVER the threaded sort that so many of us find painful? Why can't we have a simple way to tell Thunderbird: "never ever sort by threaded"? As a last resort, i am currently searching for old versions of Thunderbird.

I have used Fiefox on my Windows computers for many years, regularly updating. Nothing I saw prior to updating to v.115 a few weeks ago led me to realise that my combined Inbox would be broken apart. I did ask for a "downgrade fix" pretty immediately, but have had no reply. Looking at other users' questions about v.115, I see many people with similar problems after upgrading. I now have to look in all those of my accounts which appear beneath the top Inbox header (which with trouble I found and have made visible), but also in other haphazardly located inboxes further down the mailbox hierarchy or listings, to pick up those messages not appearing with the bulk of the others. The suggested fixes for lack of global inbox were far too technically intricate for me to tackle and all I really want is my old display of emails back. I do appreciate that as a highly technical person, but with no experience of the most consistent mailbox settings, I may have somewhere gone wrong over the years and this could have helped the current confusion. Thunderbird has become a current hardly usable jumble. But until now, there really weren't any problems. Can anyone help me revert to my previous working Thunderbird layout, without my having to re-program the beast? Thanks.
