I'm looking to move over from Apple Mail as it's choking on the amount of email I have.

So far, it's pretty great, but Apple Mail offers a smart folder strategy that I've found really useful.

I have 4 smart folders that span all the accounts I use. They mail that has come in:

  • Today
  • Yesterday
  • This Week
  • Last Week

Apple Mail has built-in terms for these, and the week views always start on Monday, so it's not just counting days.

Is there any way to get Thunderbird to do this?

I have 2 questions I need assistance with / answers to, if anyone knows.

- Why is there no option to 'Block sender' in the Spam options? I actually stopped using T-bird twice in the past upon finding that missing. Giving it another try; still not there. Very odd indeed.

- Also wondering if there's any way to remove of hide the abundance of folders? I can eliminate at least 7 of the ones shown in attached pic and this is only 1 email acct. When adding additional mail addresses, each one gets its own set of what you see, or more! I'm afraid it's just too much for me. I have mental challenges.

Thanks in advance!

I recently converted to Thunderbird after using TheBat! for 20+ years. With TheBat!, I always received a copy of my own messages that were sent to various discussion lists. With Thunderbird, I am not receiving those messages. I have checked my accounts at the discussion lists and I should be receiving the messages.

I don't find any settings in Thunderbird Preferences that reference this type of option, nor do I find an Add-on.

Thanks for any assistance. Jim

The SuperNova UI is awful. Its font density settings are all trash.

I rolled back because it's so bad. And how cool was it that the UI was updated without warning me that "installing the latest version" would overhaul UI settings and design without asking if I want that? So cool, so thoughtful, like a dog dumping on the kitchen floor.

Is there any option in it yet to allow users to keep the old UI?

Hello, I want to customise the From address so it prioritises another address than the one it presently chooses. I tried the Customise button underneath, but after highlighting my chosen address, nothing happens. I switched TB off in case it needed to update its setting, but no luck. Does anyone know? (The easier and simpler the better please). Many thanks. PS. I use a Macbook Air Sonoma version, TB v 115.8.0

I am new on Ubuntu and on Thunderbird to which I moved. Before I used Pegasus under Windows.

With Pegasus, I got the possibility, when sending a mail, to direct the mail to a folder/sub-folder of my choice.

I tried several options in Thunderbird > Account > Copies & Folders. I was not successful.

How must I proceed ? Thank you.

I recall that when TBird graduated from 78 to 91 that most of my Add Ons no longer worker. Some ended up being updated, others not. Currently I use: EditEmailSubject MX, FileLink Provider for Box, and PopmailListRecipients. POPmail appears to be updated, saying it works thru 105.0 (but aren't we only at 102?) but the other two simply show "78 -" and I know they work with 91. Would you know if in general add ons that worked for 91 will work with 102? Thank you.

What I have in mind is to be able to play a special sound when I receive a message from a particular sender in Thunderbird, sort of like a specific ringtone for a caller on a phone. I have someone whose e-mails I need to respond to ASAP, but I also need to work otherwise undisturbed on my computer.

Does such an add-on exist? If not, would someone consider creating one?

Thank you!

I'm still running Thunderbird 52.9.1 (the last version before the WebExtensions apocalypse), primarily because of the AttachmentExtractor add-on (and also the Junquilla add-on). I use it to extract all attachments and inline images from a group of emails, saved with the file modification date matching the email date, so they are in correct chronological order on my hard drive.

Is there any substitute for this that works with a modern Thunderbird version?

We have moved over to M365 and we have issues with the Undo function both keybind and coded function in Thunderbird. Outlook it works just fine, but in Thunderbird it seems to not work and the function is just greyed out.

Scenario: Moves the mail from Folder Inbox to Folder Courier, but realize that it needs to be in Folder Content, so wish to move it back with Ctrl + Z or the Undo function in the Edit tab. Function doesn't work.

Is this how it is because of server syncing, or is there something we can do as permission to our employees?

Thank you in advance.

I recently had to change my passwords. Unfortunately, after an hour of searching for how to do that, I was unable to find a way to change the password. I decided to delete the account and re-add it, which would allow me to enter the new password that I set up in gmail. However, the folders are missing when I added the account. In the past, when I added a gmail account, using imap, it would automatically reestablish the folders I set up. Now it does not. I tried using pop3, and the folders were not reestablished either. Is there a way to get my folders back, and how do I do so. Thanks
