My Gmail has thousands of messages on the server. I only want to keep the previous year (2021) and not import the rest of the messages.

How to I delete the entire batch before 2021 in Thunderbird and not affect the Gmail?

I am using the Imap setup.

Hi, I have a few email accounts set up in Thunderbird (rel 91.7.0 32bit, Win10 21H1). On the work email (the first account) I receive complete notifications when receveing new email (sound and popup with sender/subject). On the personal one, I can only hear the sound and see the new mail red icon in the traybar but I can't see any preview. As far as I can tell, the notifications setting are not account-specific, and I would expect all accounts to behave the same in that respect. Does anybody have idea/suggestions to activate the popup alert also for the other account? Many thanks in advance Luca

I'm using the latest version of TB but...I can't seem to find the Other Stationary menu. Is there a way to get it back? It's kinda funny as I have been using TB on and off for years and never had a problem with this.

I never could get Virtual Identity or Correct Identity to consistently work predictably, so after many months twiddling them, I removed them. Then I needed to test what I had to do to live without them. There's a problem.

(The email addresses and accounts are fakes, but you'll get the idea.)

When I send this message to myself at a different account:

To: to@gmail.com
Reply-To: replyto@gmail.com

me.to gets the message fine. When I compose a reply, I expect this:

To: replyto@gmail.com
Reply-To: to@gmail.com

But I get this:

To: replyto@gmail.com
Reply-To: to+arf@gmail.com

to+arf@gmail.com was a virtual identity. So it appears that something is screwed. But what is screwed and how would I fix it?

In a previous thread 5 years ago, it has been asked how the e-mail filters can be backed-up. Back then, the suggestion was to locate the msgFilterRules.dat in the profile folder.

I just created a new user profile in Thunderbird 91.9.0 and I created some new filters, but the file msgFilterRules.dat hasn't appeared in the profile directory. Has the file been changed? Any tips on how to back-up the filters? Using Ubuntu 20.04.

SOLVED: one has to do the following steps:

1. Go to Help>More troubleshooting information>Profile Directory > Open directory 2. Right click, open in Terminal 3. type the command "find . -name 'msgFilterRules.dat'

this will list all the filters, dependent on different e-mail servers

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1.  Next level
   1.  Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Keep losing my emails on my pc after 3 weeks using Thunderbird. Tried checking settings many times but cannot fixed the problem. I basically want to keep my emails permanently on my pc once downloaded from my email server. Also I once downloaded I want to clear emails from the email server which has only got a limited capacity. Please help or advice where the settings are to do the above thanks a lot. Hi, every time i upload csv file to run in local outbox, it sends email on the basis of time . Is there anyway to sort emails by correspondent name and send it accordingly.

Is there anyway to reset the dates or remove the dates from drafts. i have multiple emails to send, and for some reason , I would like to either give same date/time to the selected emails or completely remove it.

I am trying to create an HTML signature block. I need to add an image to my signature. In the Help for adding signatures, it says to use the menu item 'Insert > Image'. I cannot find any such menu item.

The version of my Thunderbird is 91.9.1

Please indicate where I can find this function.

is there a setting for mail composition that shows a line ending symbol for the email's content? I mean something like the pilcrow (looks like a reversed uppercase P letter) in Microsoft Word.

Or is there an add-on for that?

Your system is a DOG, I had to reset my laptop and when I reinstalled Thunderbird, I didnt know there was box to Check/uncheck about leaving emails on your server, so to dumped all my emails older than 14 days.

I did try the forum to try and find a repair and only got 1 comment from a Matthew ( I think)

Total waste of time!!!!!

I have swapped to Outlook, cost a little but far better for safety.

There is a website that I block every day from my email. And every day it shows up again with the same email address. I use the message filter "from, contains" . Yet every day the same web site appears.

The site is " newsletter@zerohedge.com". How is the site bypassing my message filter? Other sites I block do not do this.

I can't for the life of me find out how to stop Thunderbird from deleting my emails form Thunderbird and my email server. I use to think it was after 30 days but my oldest email is from May 11th, today is the 26th. So maybe it's a set size limit. My email is through my web hosting provider and it is set to unlimited. When I asked them they said there's a setting on an email client that is deleting my emails. How do I fix this? I have tried to delete the email account and add it again from scratch but that didn't do anything. Many times I need to access older emails from my customers that are just gone.

I know another person mentioned this before but I didn't see a resolved answer, only that he created a new folder to import his old messages to. Which I don't see how to do that but also feel that's just a band-aid type fix. I want my emails to stop being deleted automatically, only if I delete them.

The email composing window includes Write: in the title (before the actual email title). How can I remove this part from the title?

The space I have on my device is narrow where I can see the titles of the emails being composed and I would like to see only the email title in that location, without the "Write:" portion. Does anyone know how I can achieve this?
