Hi. I'm using T-bird v 115.3.2, and since the upgrade to 115, I've been seeing weird behavior regarding opening messages vs their getting marked read.

I'm referring to actually opening the message in a new window (I do not use the preview window--it is turned off).

My usual reading behavior is to open a message, read it, then press <F> to go to the next message. In either case, most messages immediately get marked as read. However, some random messages do not get marked as read immediately--after a delay, the message gets marked as read. It seems to be related to messages from some specific senders, as opposed to random messages. For example, marketing messages from Southwest Airlines always seem to have this issue, as do the daily newsletters from "The Hustle."

What are the criteria for T-bird to think a message has been read? If it matters, I'm seeing this on mailboxes where I use IMAP access. I have not seen it occur in the mailbox where I use POP3 access, but almost all of those messages are plain text.

On Nov28 changed to Rel 115.5.1, my thunderbird can receive messages but can not send. I am getting an error message saying that my password is in error. However when i go to Mail.aol,com my password works fine. again this just started on the 28th.

Hi everyone! Apologies upfront in case this question has already been asked, but I'm struggling to see if something similar was already posted... In a nutshell: I delete messages in my inbox (or any other folder) in Thunderbird, but when I login to the website of my mail provider (gmx.net) or check the app on my phone, I still see these mails on the imap server. Is this a known issue? What could be the reason?

Was just updated to version 115.5.1, and I had held off posting this question until after the update, hoping the issue might be resolved... but it's as bad as ever.

Tbird abruptly became very slow to delete/display messages; not with the last update, but a couple of updates previously. I have been in the habit of working my way up the list from the oldest to the newest, and as I hit "delete" and "up arrow" to view the next email, it's a slow, laggy process. Both emails remain highlighted for a second or two, the old email continues to display, then the deleted email drops out, and shortly the new one displays, the whole process taking a bit over two seconds... to move from one email to the next, a process that used to be nearly instantaneous. No idea exactly when that changed, but it seems to be a process that's getting worse with time.

Any ideas on what I might be able to do to get my original level of performance back? For what it's worth, this is a new machine, insanely fast compared to my older one, and Tbird is the only app where I'm encountering this kind of slowness issue. Everything else is astonishingly faster by comparison... but Tbird remains laggy and slow and I've no idea where to start looking for reasons for this. Don't even know what kind of information to post here that might be useful in diagnosing the issue - - tell me what's needed and I'll do my best to get it. Thanks in advance! I *really* don't want to change email clients after all this time!

This morning I suddenly could not send emails from Thunderbird. I contacted my ISP (Plusnet) and they demonstarted that if I used webmail I could send emails and they concluded there was a problem with thunderbird. They suggested removing my account and re-inputting it - which I did. Not only did this not answer the problem but all my folders to which I have moved messages have all disappeared. This is a huge problem for me. Are they all in the cloud? is there anyway I can retrieve them?

Rebuilding the database for the inbox and sent messages does not work. Message is being indexed - it always hangs in the same place: Indexing 6,416 of 28,169 messages in the Sent folder (22%) The process stops and does not go any further. The inbox won't rebuild at all. How to check the logs and on which message the process stops? There is space on the disk. I can't roll back the version because I have the beta version (the new one stopped working and only the beta version worked properly). Antivirus also disabled. All sqlite files were deleted (moved) but it didn't help.

I have just switched to Thunderbird from Gmail. Have tried several times to send bulk emails but always get this message:

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: We have detected an unusual amount of suspicious mail originating from this address. Please try again later.. Please check the message and try again.

I have a need to send emails frequently to more than one address and this is going to be most inconvenient if it can't be fixed. Is there a setting somewhere?

Thunderbird will not open. the error message is: "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window." Pressed the "Close Thunderbird" button, but no response. Checked Task Manager and ended the Thunderbird application...still no change. Uninstalled Thunderbird and downloaded .exe file and installed...still the same error message. Rebooted the computer...still not change. Can you please assist with this problem. Thankyou I

From that moment it could not communicate with my imap server and I cannot renew my account with the server.

I now have to use webmail.

Can I please go back to the immediate predecessor as that has worked well.

Unable to start -> Side-by side configuration error message Unable to uninstall -> Another Message says there is an unfinished thunderbird update, must restart pc. after restart, no update starts. back to the same situation. Unable to Re-Install -> Downloaded Installer, but installation gives the same "unfinished update error"

I already copied the "Thunderbird" Folder from the "AppData/Roaming" Folder. Is this the correct Data Backup so I don't loose my emails?

I've been through all related articles in this forum to try to resolve this issue, as the popup keeps popping up.

This is what I've checked and did; 1- Checked Outgoing server (SMTP) settings - No trace of account there. 2- Produced a 'Troubleshooting Information" report; Nothing under 'Mail and News Accounts' 3- I've deleted my Calendar and made a new one. 4- Got HostGator on the phone and they confirm that my account is close and files deleted.

And it is still not resolved. Anyone knows how to resolve this issue ? Thanks

I have a fairly modern Windows 10 desktop computer that has never had any trouble opening up Thunderbird but all of a sudden it's crashing all the time .

The box that comes up in the middle of my screen says Mozilla Crash Reporter. We're sorry Thunderbird had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts. to help us diagnose and fix the problem you can send us a crash report...then it has a couple of boxes. your crash report will be submitted before you quit or restart... then it has a box restart Thunderbird and another box quit Thunderbird

I hope you can get this sorted out and soon as I rely on this program to work every day
