I'm using Thunderbird 115.7.0 (64 bits). Cannot send messages from my email account: katy.vandenhoek@gmail.com. It says it cannot make connection to server smtp.gmail.com. Receiving emails is OK. The other emailaccounts are working OK. Looks like there is something wrong with the authentification. Reïnstalling Thunderbird didn't help.

I've changed my ISP's mail server password, and it's correct in Saved Logins, but I can't send mail because I need to change the SMTP password. My SMTP account is listed correctly, but it doesn't appear in the Saved Logins list. So I can't update its password. How can I get my SMTP account added to the Saved Logins list?

Thanks in advance for your work on this.

Recently my Thunderbird started asking for my passwords every time I opened it (I have multiple Hotmail accounts). After I added the passwords it would keep asking for them over and over again (they were ALL correct). I have now uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of Thunderbird and only added 1 account back in and it still keeps doing the same. The password is visible and correct in the saved passwords section. I am now having to use another client (Outlook, which works correctly, but isnt a patch on Thunderbird) Running MACOS 12.7.3 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My thunderbird configuration uses POP to download email onto my local computer. I recenly became aware that evrytime I read an email I have received from Constant Contact, Constant contact is being sent and report of my access that email. That is not refering to when the email is downloaded. After I download the message, Constant Contact is notified I have open the email. This happens just by opening the email, no links in the email have been clicked. I have the sending of return receipts turned off, but this seems like something different than a return receipt.

I suspect this is related to some of the tags I see in the email: X-Campaign-Activity-ID, X-Channel-ID, X-Feedback-ID, etc.

I am sure the marketing people on the other end love this, but to me it is an invasion of my privacy. Is there a way to prevent this in Thunderbird? It seems to me to be a no-brainer that email users should be able to prevent such an intrusion into their privacy. Am I wrong on that?

Hello,

Ive installed a MIME-certificate from Sectigo in Thunderbird 115.6.1 on Pop OS (flatpak).

The cert is in a pw-protected .p12-file which I have imported successfully. However when I try to sign emails I get the error-message shown in the first attached image. That the application cant find my cert or that it has expired. Both statements are incorrect imo :)

In attached image 2 and 3 it shows that the application has imported the cert and that its valid until 2025.

Any tips or input is helpful.

Also under Security Devices I have a PKCS#11 module that I have logged in to, but I dont see how that could affect PKCS#12 certs but I read in some guide that I had to do that. Which also apparently mean that master password is set for protecting credentials in the application, so I have to provide that password when opening Tunderbird.

Setting up a desktop (Dell Inspiron) for neighbors using latest Linux Mint (21.3 Cinnamon). They have simple needs, LibreOffice, Firefox and email. Plain jane, nothing extra added, straight from latest Mint install.

I am having trouble adding a second email account in Thunderbird (115.8.1). First comcast account was very easy, standard comcast defaults, works fine, downloads and sends. Second comcast account keeps giving "Unable to Connect" poput screen. (https://localhost/?code=0.ac.w2.PciwTw)

I can login to either Xfinity email account through Firefox browser using same addresses ((username)@comcast.net) and passwords I am using to attempt to add second account in Thunderbird.

Tried it with Mint Firewall off, then on, then off again. Do I need to setup firewall for second account?

Can someone give me a hint on this problem? Is is Thunderbird? Comcast? Something else?

Hi, Yesterday I noticed problem with Thunderbird. When I try to add account (for the first time) i get a message "Unable to login at server...". The problem is, that ive checked each possible problem indicated by people on the Internet: - cookies set as "always turned on" - authorization method set as "OAuth2" - saved password - cleared - proper ports addresses - anti-virus app - disabled while trying to solve In fact, after I click "Done" (after i fill in NICKNAME/MAIL ADRESS/PASSWORD) in order to go to the authorization, the Gmail window pops up (that's great!). I can easily enter my email adress and password, but afterwards "Unable to login at server..." appears. The problem is not tied with THIS Google Account, emerges all the time, even for different accounts. I have no more ideas. Please help!

I received the following from my e-mail provider, and as a total dumbo about this, want to ask if I need to do anything about this in Thunderbird (Linux). As far as I can see, my e-mail account in Thunderbird is set to POP3, encrypted using SSL/TLs, normal password - can anyone tell me if this is OK - Thanks.

Quote: "We are contacting you because one or more of your devices or programs uses the TLS 1.0 and/or TLS 1.1 encryption protocols to connect to our mail.com email servers, or is using an unencrypted connection. This involves either access via SMTP (sending emails) or retrieval via POP3/IMAP (receiving emails).

Unfortunately, the TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 encryption protocols are outdated and no longer meet current security standards. To protect your email communications, soon we will no longer allow access to our mail.com servers with these outdated protocols. Unencrypted access will also no longer be possible.

After the protocols have been deactivated, the transfer of emails between your affected device or program and our mail.com servers will no longer work; i.e. no emails will be transmitted to or from your mail.com email account using TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. Furthermore, unencrypted SMTP/IMAP/POP3 connections will no longer function. In other words, as of Oct. 5, 2022, it will only be possible to connect if TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 encryption is in place." Last week I changed my Yahoo mail password and updated Apple mail on my devices with no problem. On my iMac, running Monterey OS 12.6.5, I use the latest version of Thunderbird for email. However, it has not accepted the new password, which I enter in the popup window requesting it. (See screenshots) I have tried going into settings/privacy and security and changing it in saved passwords and I've tried deleted saved passwords. I have also entered the secure key. Nothing works. All my mail folders are there. I would really appreciate help on how to get Thunderbird to use my new Yahoo password. Thanks.

I've just installed the latest Thunderbird, using the default imap settings and my known good gmail password. When I press 'Done', Google asks me to log in and give permission to Thunderbird to access my gmail account. This goes fine, but Thunderbird then reports that the password is rejected. I know that it is good, and I can't see anything wrong. Everything seems to be set correctly and none of the help topics appears to give me a solution that I haven't already tried. Help please!

I had to change my gmail pwd due to a possible security breach as reported to me by Experian.

After the change, Tbird flashed this error message upon the next startup (please see image)

After about 20 minutes of poking about, I found where I could change the password for my google account. I changed it to the new password. There is zero chance I got it wrong because I copy/pasted it from my pwd mgr. I still get this error message making T'bird useless to me.

I'm definitely let down that such as simple op as pwd change was so difficult to find and now seems impossible to do. I haven't a CLUE what the STAT command is or how to address this condition.

Any suggestions are greatly welcomed.

Hello,

I am setting up PGP in Thunderbird. Sometimes I want to send an email which is signed but not encrypted. However, before I send this to someone else I want to make sure that it works. So I sent an email to myself (2 different accounts which I both control and have added to Thunderbird). The email has the signature attached but the Thunderbird UX doesn't give me any information about whether or not it successfully verified the signature. I tried downloading the `.eml` file and checking the signature against that, but it failed (I'm assuming that I tried to verify the wrong thing, not that the signature is actually bad).

Any help would be appreciated.

I have installed latest version of Thunderbird and all works as it should but 2 things seem wrong and not sure if bug, incorrect setting or just not allowed:

1 When I send encrypted email to myself it is automatically unencrypted and readable. I would prefer that any encrypted email I receive forces me to enter my private password every time. Can I configure this? 2 I would like to set Tbird to automatically encrypt all emails to an address I have the public key for. however It looks as if I can only set 'encrypt all' or 'don't encrypt' which means I need to manually select for each email or have to set as 'encrypt all' and then get message for almost all recipients that they don't have public key etc.

Advice appreciated.

I have Thunderbird set up with two email accounts. Until today I han problems with outgoing or incoming email and had saved passwords. All worked fine. Then I had to change my internet modem and somewhere along the line my incoming password for one of the two email accounts got deleted. No idea how. So I went into Settings and deleted all saved passwords. After that I sent a test email for both accounts and was able to re-save my passwords. But when I "Get Email" for either account, nothing happens. No email arrives (there are new emails on both accounts if I check via webmail). But I also am never prompted to save a password for incoming email (mail.comcast.net) for either account.

Why isn't Thunderbird prompting me to save the incoming password, and how can I manually enter a password? I'm baffled and at wit's end.

Thank you!

I have 5 accounts on Thunderbird. 2 are IMAP, which are working correctly. 3 are POP and have stopped working. I can access all 5 accounts on my android devices and on web browser, Currently.com/yahoo. When signing on I get the following messages.

login to server inbound.att.net with username xxx.att.net failed.

Sending of password for user xxx@att.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded [sys/temp] Server error - Please try again later I had to use Currently.com email client to correct/change passwords for these 3 accounts to work on Currently.com and android devices. I suspect the passwords got corrupted somehow. I have tried to delete account from Thunderbird and reinstall. Did not help. I have looked at all account settings and outgoing SMTP Server settings and all looks correct. The Outgoing Server name is the same as the default identity name for each account. Is there a setting in Thunderbird to clear password and accept the correct or a new password
