Hi all

Since yesterday Thunderbird is unable to connect to the server and download new emails.

I got the following error message: "Non-overridable TLS error occurred. Handshake error or probably the TLS version or certificate used by the server mail.blacknight.com is incompatible."

I am running Thunderbird v102.2.2 for 4 days now but yesterday was the first time this error has appeared.

security.tls.version.min is set to 1. In fact, it has been set to 1 for more than a year now.

The host tells me everything is fine with the cert used by their server.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

When Thunderbird updated to 102.6.1 the other day, my address book disappeared. No more personal address book or contact lists. Gone. (My 'Personal Address Book" went from 2,000 names to 24. Yikes!)

Plus, I can't even type people's names into the emails and expect it to populate like before. I have to search for their emails and rewrite it.

Is there a way to fix this? Or to roll the program back to the previous version?

Since I backed my email list up last month, I've made lots of changes. But if I have to, I'll just re-import and try to recreate what I've done. (Reminder to self to back up more often).

Thanks for any help or guidance. PS - I'm on Windows 10.

I have Thunderbird installed on two computers.

On one of the computers, emails being held in my inbox are being automatically removed after two weeks (this is not a desirable action, I am loosing important emails), but on the other computer that is configured exactly the same, emails remain in the inbox indefinitely (which is desired).

Both computers are POP and both configured to run the same email account and appear to have all of the same configurations and settings. I saw someone had posted the same problem a while ago and the reply indicated it may be that the ISP or email provider has their settings set to delete emails as per the two week window, but as I can assure you this is not the case, it is a configuration issue with one of the Thunderbird installations, otherwise both of my computers would be deleting the emails while that is not the case.

Dear community,

in the past, I have noticed that a few e-mails - but not all - are displayed incorrectly as plain text instead of the usual HTML-text. This means that there is no formatting involved, e.g. the font art is not correct. As it seems, the issue occurs when the standard formatting options of e-mails are used by the senders. So if nothing is changed like the font size or colour. If I look at the e-mail on different e-mail programs, everything is alright. I have already ensured that the option View > Message Body As > Original HTML is enabled.

Hi Community, i wanted to ask wether it normal that Thunderbird 115 needs 60 seconds to load the interface? When it starts it shows my personalised theme and an empty space for a whole minute. (i measured it)

Directly after installation everything was fine. But now i have set up my acconts and rearranged some buttons. Is there maybe a problem with Exchange synchronisation on startup? Both of my accounts are provided by Exchange servers.

TB 91.5.0 on Windows 10 (with profile folder excluded from virus scan)

The latest update to seems to have resurrected a problem with saving copies of sent emails. Sending works fine, but copying of the sent email to the sent folder causes the send dialog to hang. Disabling the "Place a copy in:" option in account settings eliminates the problem. Using the "Other" option to place it in a local folder works *that is not part of a unified folder* works OK.

I have tried repairing folders and deleting the sent files inside "smart folders" in the profile, with no luck.

Thunderbird is trying to access an old email account I haven't used for years. But today I am getting the following error message: Login to server pop3(old email address) with username XXXX failed. The error message keeps popping up as long as Thunderbird is open. And as long as an error message is running, I can't send an email. I've been running Tbird on Windows for many years. About 2 weeks ago something changed, either in Tbird or at Microsoft, which stops me from sending to the Office 365 SMTP server. I can send and receive using Outlook on the Office website, but I can't send locally from Tbird. Error message screenshot herewith. I have tried every possible permutation of server settings, which currently are:

Server name: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Security: START/TLS Authentication: OAuth2

MS support says these are correct, and they are at wits' end to understand what is going on. They asked me to ask Tbird support, so I am.

I should add that at about the same time I started getting SMTP rejections in Gmail on my Android phone, and miraculously that was corrected yesterday, without any action from me. There is something odd going on at Microsoft - does anyone know what it is? My other accounts on Tbird work fine of course.

I bought an HP Envy 360 computer in Feb last, with Windows 11 at first Thunderbird was working ok, but after an manual update app. 10 days ago Thunderbird was very slow and almost impossible to work with. Hello I am new to Tb but I have problems with GMAIL, the synchronization works fine from the server, I can move emails to any folder, send them to the trash and delete them and it syncs in TB, but when I do the same from Tb this does not work well when I move an email to the trash and then delete it from TB it is not deleted in Gmail and stays there until I close TB. The configuration I have is IMAP. and the problem gives me with Gmail because with zohomail it works correctly. What am i doing wrong?

On the second I am receiving and sending emails but it is not saving my sent emails.

Thunderbird has become unusable for me with the latest update on March 28th. It takes about 10-20 seconds to respond to clicks to delete emails. As you can guess, this makes it impossible to work with and I've had to switch to Outlook.

Whatever the issue is with this change, it needs to be resolved.

I'm unable to find away to revert back to the older version. Is there a link to older versions?

Hello,

I have problem opening/saving PDF attachments. Recently I started to also have troubles with ".doc" attachments.

If I want to open the PDF attachment in Thunderbird I get an blank page. If I want to save it, the saved file is empty and in folder it shows 0 bytes although in the message the attachments the file has the right size. If I choose open with Acrobat reader , absolutely nothing is happening, the Acrobat do not open, now file is displayed.

Other colleagues can open the same message in Thunderbird and see/save pdf attachments without problems. I reinstalled both Thunderbird and Acrobat reader without any change


What else should I try? I attach 2 screenshots.

( recently I started having troubles with ".doc" attachments as well)

Hello, I'm new to Thunderbird. This is the first time using.

I'm trying to Archive emails, to clear up space on a near full email server. I've set Account Settings/Copies and Folders according to various posts on this forum. The first few Inbox test emails worked, using the Archive button, and archiving emails from the Sent folder seems to be working ok. But now whenever I try to archive emails from the Inbox, I get this error:

The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxxx@serviceprovider.ca responded: UID COPY failed.

I haven't been able to archive any more Inbox emails. I've also tried just drag/drop, but I'm getting the same error and the emails return back to the Inbox. I'm only selecting 20 emails at a time.

I reinstalled Thunderbird overtop. But no change.

I've tried Compacting, and Repair Folder. But no change.

My system is Windows 10. I originally installed version 68 and the auto updates has upgraded it to the current version. Message Archives is set to Yearly archived folders and I've checked "Keep existing folder structure of archived messages". My Archive folder is structured: "2021" with subfolders "In" and "Sent".

Not sure what to try next. Should I revert to a previous version?

Any assistance is appreciated! Thank you.

since Saturday, 9th Sept. 2023, ca. 14:00 GMT my Thunderbirds are producing error messages.

I have added four different outlook.com email-accounts, each with IMAP+TLS+OAuth2 as incoming server and SMTP+STARTTLS+OAuth2 as outgoing server configuration. The error messages are only regarding these outlook.com-accounts. A gmail.com-account with the same settings is not affected.

I encounter constantly popups with the following error messages: - "...user ist authenticated but not connected" - "the server is offline" - something like "authentification error while connecting to server outlook.office365.com"

Also the Page where i should enter the password to create the OAuth-Token keeps opening and closing before it could load completely.

The most astounding thing is, the synchroniziation seems to work nonetheless. It's just the messages that annoy me.

Here is an entry from the Thunderbird error-log: "mailnews.oauth: Error response from the authorization server: invalid_grant; AADSTS50196: The server terminated an operation because it encountered a client request loop. Please contact your app vendor. (...) https://login.microsoftonline.com/error?code=50196"

The problem occured more or less suddenly on 3 different PCs: - Two Windows 10 Pro 22H2 machines with the Thunderbird versions 115.2.0 and 115.2.1 - A Fedora Linux machine where Thunderbird 115.2.0 is installed via Flatpak

What I already tried with no success: - De- and reinstalling Thunderbird with deleting _all_ user Data - Upgrading Thunderbird from 115.2.0 to 115.2.1 - Revoking the access for the Thunderbird-app in the Microsoft.com account OAuth-Settings and granting it again when creating a new token by logging in with Thunderbird

What my inquiry has delivered yet: - Thunderbird seems to have problems to remember the OAuth-Tokens. When I look in the privacy settings at the saved passwords I can see that the passwort seems to change constantly. In contrast, the Google-gmail.com-account keeps the same passwort. - It seems to be especially triggered by closing thunderbird and opening it again shortly afterwards, though it does happen without doing so too. - The error messages pop up and the password-page opens mostly when I click on a folder (presumably because Thunderbird is trying to sync it then)

My accounts seem to be fine. I have no problems accessing them with OAuth2 via K-9 Mail on my Android 13 phone. I can also log in via the Web Interface.

In thundertbird 102.11.0 (32-bit). unread messages remain unread aftrer selecting the message. I have to opeen the message in order to mark it read. This is different from what happened beforew. just selceting the message would make it Read. This is slow as I dont always need to open messages In Settings > General, Reading and Display, Automatically mark messages as Read ius checked, and Immediately on Display
