Working on a desktop with Windows 11. Problem is: search bar at top of my Firefox only intermittently brings up results. I can type something in there and it appears to be searching, but nothing comes up. Occasionally, if I hit it again it will bring something up, but not often. Google is the browser.

Within the last day or two, Firefox has started opening the sidebar whenever I press "ctrl", which has caused a lot of annoying misclicks and prevents me from using "ctrl+" functions (e.g. new tab, cut, copy, paste, etc.).

How do I disable the sidebar? The instructions at the support page titled "Use the Firefox Sidebar to access bookmarks, history and synced tabs", specifically the subsection titled "Toggle the Sidebar on and off" (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-firefox-sidebar-access-bookmarks-history-synced), are unhelpful at best and incomprehensible at worst.

This problem is incredibly frustrating, and has even impeded me writing this request for help, since I couldn't use the keyboard to copy+paste the article title and URL.

TL;DR Please help me (permanently?) disable the sidebar from appearing.

How do I block autoplay vedio?

I know I can block Audio and Video, but I just want to block autoplay video. As if I use the block audio and video it will mute all videos I open, and I need to unmute it every time. I just want autoplay to not start, not mute the video too.

My volume on Youtube is often too low. Some time back I got a java script that fixed it. I had to do an F12 and paste it in somewhere and then I got a little rectangle at top left which said something like 'volume'. Click on that and up went the volume. Click again, up more and so on. It was good. Sometimes on things like perhaps Bitchute it wouldn't work. It would actually switch all the volume off. I'd refresh the page to fix that. Anyway: it suddenly disappeared today. The little rectangle is gone. I can't up my volume on Youtube any more. I got something from the web, a javascript, and pasted it into 'console' after F12 but i got error messages. I'm clueless. Don't know where to look for my original, see if it still there. Don't know how to troubleshoot. Don't know any other way to get the volume up. See error message on the console whenever I go there, don't know what to do about them. FYI I'll post the first few lines of them: Unknown property ‘-moz-osx-font-smoothing’. Since Firefox is set as my default browser I would have expected to see Firefox here in these registry entries as my default browser in lieu of Internet Explorer. However, if I delete those Registry entries, it then breaks any embedded links in MS Programs such as Outlook mail and Excel. I have I.E as non-active (i.e. unchecked in Programs) but the system still seems to rely on I.E for opening any embedded links. Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

I got a phishing e-mail on my mail.yahoo.com webmail interface. I deleted it but immediately received the following warning from Bitdefender:

Kinda weird that an e-mail where I didn't click any link is still able to manipulate my browser like that!

(*this always fails).

This is only an issue on my laptop. If I use another computer I can access the website without issue.

How to I fix this issue on my laptop?

My fb account has been hacked. When I try to follow the procedure for regaining control provided by facebook, I get a pop-up window which asks for a security key via windows/mozilla. I don't know what this is or where to find it. Can you help?

I use/like the randomly-generated 'strong' password feature, but is there a setting/option to have it include one or more special character(s)? So many sites nowadays require one, and VERY few *prohibit* them. I know I can 'substitute' one in there, but I'm VERY lazy! Thanks.

since the last firefox update I am not able to visit the german Amazon Seller Central website anymore. I have no knowlegde in how to solve this issue and that is why I am asking for your support.

The link to the website is: https://sellercentral.amazon.de/ Whenever I want to visit the site, I get the error "HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request" (see attached image).

I already checked with amazon themselves, but they said the issue lies within my computer. My IT department said the issue is related to the browser most likely; and indeed, with Microsoft Edge for example, I am able to open the website.

Does anyone know this error and even better knows how to solve the problem?

I have used Firefox for years. I am computer literate and do not like the newer approach Firefox has taken to save all downloads to my downloads folder. I have to continually go in and manually delete the files.

For instance, I have a lot of pdf forms that I have to open directly in Acrobat, those files are then duplicated and saved in my downloads. This is causing a mess for me.

This was NOT an improvement in my opinion. Is there a way to stop this???
