Suddenly almost everytime I load a YouTube video I have to watch 2 - 4 min of ads, sometimes two in a row before the video starts. I no longer have the skip ad button. If I load the same link in Chrome or Edge I don't have this problem. My search engine is Duck Duck Go, but if I go to Google first and then to the video I still have the problem. I also have the Maleware Bytes ad blocker installed. Any suggestions?

I started getting this message today - "this page is slowing down firefox. To speed up your browser stop this page" How can I fix it other than to start using Safari.

Within the Add-on Manager by clicking Manage Extension Shortcuts - you can make shortcuts for add-ons to perform specific functions via the buttons on your keyboard, but I want to actually be able to use the buttons on my actual mouse rather than the keyboard.

Does anybody know if this is possible? Currently when I try to use my mouse to input a 'shortcut' in the 'Type a shortcut' box nothing works.

Are there any about:config settings or add-ons that can enable me to use my Mouse to make shortcuts for my add-ons?

When I open the Manage Bookmarks in Firefox I have thousands (not exaggerating) of recently bookmarked items. How to I delete all of them? I think I turned that feature off via the browser.bookmarks.showRecentlyBookmarked. I changed it from True to False I have tried deleting them one by one but it seems like they recreate and I am not making any progress deleting. How do I delete all of them?

Online forms don't appear in Firefox (Windows 10 PC), but do appear correctly using Edge or Chrome. This has been happening for quite some time. I have o switch to Edge or Chrome to see the fields to fill in on online forms.

Since a day or two the font size on my Menu Bar is way too small. I have been searching around and the solutions are not working or not what I want. I do not want to zoom in, I want my page size to remain the same, I only need the font size on the menu bar back to what it was. I tried the userChrome.css method and it did not work

I am running Firefox 121.0.1, which is currently up to date, on a slightly older MacBook, which has the latest MacOS it can get: macOS 11.6.8. As the title states, YouTube is almost unwatchable on my machine. The video will pause frequently while audio continues, motion is not very smooth, which is especially noticeable watching sports, etc. I cleared cookies and cache, I have run in Troubleshoot mode as well as tried flipping some switches in about:config that I've seen in YouTube videos and forum posts about similar issues, but nothing has solved this issue.

YouTube in Google Chrome works fine, and I've been watching HD YouTube on this laptop with it for years without any issues, so I doubt it has anything to do with machine specs like RAM, CPU, etc.

I was hoping to make Firefox my new browser and start supporting browsers that aren't chromium based since Google Chrome is going too far with respect to privacy and the freedom to use the add-ons I like (e.g. adblockers like ublock origin), but so far I have not been enjoying Firefox for YouTube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firefox stopped working with my VPN on when I updated my OS to Sonoma, yesterday. I use PIA for my VPN.

I have done the following, so far, restarting my system several times between trying these things:

Checked that internet connection and modem are fine. All pages load in Safari, with VPN running, but I prefer Firefox.

Checked the Network settings for my Mac. Ensured that No Proxy was selected.

Cleared my Firefox cookies, cache and history.

Tried running in troubleshooting mode, turning off all extensions.

Tried turning off Advanced Tracking Protection, which I usually run on Custom.

Refreshed Firefox.

Finally, I turned off my VPN and, viola, all sites work. Turned it back on, and can’t navigate, again. For instance, I tried to open YouTube, and got a blank screen. Turned off VPN, and got to main YouTube page. Turned the VPN on and tried to log in…nope. Turned it off and logged in. Turned it back on and tried to open a video….nope. Turned it off and opened the video…etc., etc..

I very much wish to continue using both Firefox and my VPN. Can you suggest a course of action? Thank you for any advice you can give!!

This is the message I get. "Please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed." I can do nothing.

Things I've tried. Adding exceptions in the privacy settings in 2 seperate areas. Resetting Browser deafults. Turning off all vpn's and addons.

Nothing works.

My ISP had provided the IPv6 service, edge/chrome/vivaldi are all IPv6 first and working well. Only firefox insists use IPv4, although it could also pass the IPv6 test on https://test-ipv6.com, and the internal test on https://detectportal.firefox.com/success.txt?ipv6 It leads to some webpage extremely slow, even could not be accessed.

I've tried privacy mode, but the problem is still there. IPv6 in about:config is enabled, all related options are default. Is this a bug, or if there is any way could fix it by some special settings?

I've noticed lately that my Firefox keeps freezing and hanging up at random periods for no apparent reason. I have very few plugins and it even happens with them all disabled and removed. I've tried resetting Firefox to default everything yet it makes no difference.

Also I can not clear history. I've tried multiple different clear history plugins but none of them work at all. And when I try the traditional way of clearing Firefox history the window pops up and then the entire browser just freezes while 'clearing' and never gives me back control, I have to force quit and restart to regain control. And then when I relaunch the history is still not cleared!

So aside from the constant lagging and lockups it seems that any attempt to delete history whether using the inbuilt function or adding plugins messes up the whole browser.

Googling this issue it seems others are having the exact same problem with Firefox and yet any suggested solutions (reset browser) don't seem to be working for may of them.. Or me.

I have a little annoying problem with google and firefox that appeared (don't know if it is firefox bug or a google new policy) In the past when i did a research on google with firefox, the "sharing my location" popup only appeared when i did a location related request (weather, shop/restaurant, roadmap, local news, etc) or only once for few days, but now (like few weeks or months) i have this annoying popup appear basically everytime, even for random search like math formula or fictional stuff (does pikachu or naruto jutsu really need my location?), and even when i type the same research twice, firefox ask for location again, like if it has a golden fish memory of few seconds. How to stop this popup appear when it is not needed without having it permanently enabled or disabled for google site.

Stop tabs from automatically refreshing to top of page. Many people have this problem and I don't find a fix. One article states to go to Options and "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page," but I can't find options.

Hello everyone. Since installing Linux Mint in May 2023 I have been having this issue with Firefox.

Description of issue: When I switch between (or drag) tabs in a Firefox window, the whole window becomes unresponsive, with the last tab I was switching from still in front. Often the contents of the window start to flash (disappear and reappear, leaving a black backgground) every 2 seconds. I can drag the window around, scroll, minimize it, but it is impossible to give any input in any tab. The only action somewhat possible to do inside the window is bring other tabs in front, it is still quite hard for the input to register, and if it does, it takes 10+ seconds. The issue goes away if I close the specific Firefox window, or if I manage to select and drag one tab out of the frozen window into its own new window. Then everything works as intended, like nothing ever happened.

I can reliably cause the freeze-up in a short time by holding CTRL+TAB and drag one tab to change the order while firefox cycles through the tabs in the open window.

While the window is frozen, the rest of the desktop is responsive as normal, even other Firefox windows. If I try to interact with the frozen window I can rarely see spikes of CPU usage. RAM stays at normal usage levels, far from being full.

What I have tried so far that has had no effect on the appearance of the issue:

1) Disabling all extensions i have

2) Run in troubleshooting mode

3) Disabled hardware acceleration

4) Creaing a new firefox user profile

5) Use "Refresh Firefox" from the troubleshooting page

6) Use the Flatpak version of firefox

7) Reinstall firefox
