How can I set tabs to automatically preload when I open the browser? I'm just trying to switch from Chrome to Firefox and I can't find such a setting here, although it is a very convenient functionality. I mean that when I open the browser, I can click on any of the tabs and it will be (partially or completely) immediately ready to work without additional loading.

I just wrote this blog post and someone suggested I contact you.

I have my default browser set to Firefox on Linux (Debian Bookworm). When I open an http:// or https:// URL, it opens in Firefox, but when I open a file:/// URL, it opens in Chromium. It seems that file:/// URL makes it resort to the MIME type.

Is there anything Firefox can do here or is this a Debian or freedesktop.org issue?

After updating to Beta 122.0b3 (64-bit), the active tab is now highlighted with a simple white outline instead of the coloring surrounding the address bar. My selected theme has not changed, and the same goes for all of my extensions. I could not find this change in the 122.0b Release Notes.

If this behavior is intentional, is there any option to return to the previous behavior (including in about:config)?

All of a sudden (started today) Firefox will not load ANY websites, except Mozilla/firefox websites. All previous bookmarks, links, and typed in addresses do not load. No changes to virus protection, browser, or any other updates. Other browsers (chrome, opera) work fine.

So I've been doing this for years now, as a Youtuber I take an image file from File Explorer (Windows 10) and drag it over to upload the thumbnail to Youtube. But for some reason the last few days I can't drop the file, it just stays there with the mouse when I let go of the button. On a random page it should let me drop the file and show the image but it doesn't, and it also won't drop if I try a google image search.

I have tried this on Edge and Chrome and the problem only seems to exist on Firefox.

I cannot log in to my Gmail account via www.google.pl in the Firefox browser. When I try to log in via www.google.pl, the Bad Request Error 400 message appears. The same problem occurs when I need to confirm login to other websites using a Google account. I simply can't log in anywhere. This problem does not occur in other search engines. A login icon appears on the www.google.com website, but not all related services from Google are available - Google account, Google Play, Gmail, Meet, Chat, Drive, Calendar, and Photos are unavailable - these are just the most important ones that don't work. Cookies are enabled. On December 25, 2023, this problem did not exist. I tried to restore Firefox to an earlier installation date, but it didn't help. I uninstalled the extensions and plug-ins. When entering the proxy address and port number, Firefox outlines the port number field in red and disables the OK button thus refusing to accept my assigned port number. I'm trying to use port number 29842 which was given to me by the proxy provider.

This morning I could not log into the Schwab customer website using current Firefox version 123.0 on Windows 11. Reverting to version 122.0b9 solved the problem. Before the reversion I tried clearing cache, history, passwords, etc, and I tried a full reinstall of version 123.0. What else would prevent a connection to Schwab when other websites worked fine?

Hi. When Windows 11 was initially released, certain substantial feature of the Windows taskbar known from before was missing. I'm talking about 'Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels' and the option to set it to 'Never' (users tend to set it this way to always see the program icon along with it's label, not just the icon). At this moment, the feature has been available in widely released build of Windows 11 for months (Microsoft returned it after rewriting the taskbar code and after many complains), but it is not working correctly in conjunction with Firefox. When I close all windows and tabs of Firefox and restart the browser, only its icon is visible on the taskbar, not the label. Only when I open one more Firefox window, it starts to work as it should. Is it a known issue? Can we expect a fix to be made soon? Thanks.

I have to create a new question because when I try to reply to the answers I received the system comes up with an error page.

My version of Firefox is 120.0.1 and has been downloaded from the Mozilla website.

The problems occurs with all PDF file both local and from the internet.

The attachments are highlighted in blue in t he opened PDF file but cannot be opened. There is no way to click on the attachments.

Attached is a screen shot of one PDF file because I cannot attached the PDF file itself

I noticed my laptop was being slow, so I looked at the memory usage. Firefox was using a whopping 5GB of memory on Windows 11. I then looked at about:process and it reported that extensions were using 4GB. I disabled each of my extensions and it still said it was using 4GB of memory. I then uninstalled two of them and re-enabled some extensions and it dropped to 781MB. This is still to much in my opinion, and I want to know how to figure out which extension is being so wasteful. Even a technique on how to figure it out would be appreciated.

Every time I open a youtube video in fullscreen, firefox crashes. `about:crashes` says "No crash reports have been submitted."

Some information about my system:

  • Firefox version: 122.0.1 (64-Bit)
  • Macbook Pro M2
  • MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1

If there is a way to get more information that you would require (like logs) please describe how I access them, so I can share them.

I have an add-on ad blocker for youtube and have never gotten ads. This afternoon that stopped. I get ads with every video I click and there is no 'skip ad' on the screen. I added another top rated youtube add blocker, quit firefox and then opened it again. Before, if I clicked a video it started an ad and I could go back and then hit the video again, but now that doesn't work, but if I select to show the video in a new tab, there are no ads in that tab. What can I do to make the ads stop like they used to and never appear? Yes and my OS is Ubuntu 22.04

Installed Firefox 122 in a new Windows 10 installation and added some extensions (e.g. Gesturefly, Update Scanner, uBlock Origin, Uppity). These pinned fine on my old installation. But I cannot find how to pin them on the new.

All the help I have found Googling, or using search here, says go to the Add-ons Manager page and right-click the extension and use "pin to toolbar". Alternatively click the extension and click the gear icon and use "pin to toolbar". But when I right-click there is no pin to toolbar context menu entry. If I left-click the gear I get "Check for Updates, View Recent Updates, Install Add-on From File, Debug Add-ons, Update Add-ons Automatically, Reset All Add-ons to Update Automatically, Manage Extension Shortcuts". If I right-click the gear I get a line of icons (left, right, reload, star) followed by "Open Image in New Tab, Copy Image Link, Email Image, Save Page As, Select All, View Pate Source, Inspect Accessibility Properties, Inspect (Q)". If I right-click the extension in the Add-ons Manager page itself, I get a very similar list. In no case is there a pin to toolbar option.

How do I pin an extension, given the above? What have I messed up?

The USPS website does not work properly with Firefox!! The Home page loads okay but there are multiple other issues with links not working. For instance all of the links under Quick Tools do not work except this one: https://www.usps.com/manage/po-boxes.htm. Other things don't work either.

Everything works fine that I tried with Google Chrome though! Please address soon.

I have Firefox as my default browser instead of Microsoft Edge on my HP laptop. I've tried everything under the sun to make Google my default search engine over Microsoft Bing, and no matter what it won't stop rerouting me to Bing. I can go to www.google.com and type directly in the search bar and it STILL reroutes me to Bing, even when my settings list Google as my default search engine of the search bar. Can I block Bing as a website altogether? HP support only offered to connect me with a specialized team that costs money. Please help.

Ten sam problem występuje, gdy muszę potwierdzić logowanie do innych stron internetowych za pomocą konta Google. Po prostu nie da się nigdzie zalogować. Ten problem nie występuje w innych wyszukiwarkach. Moderator Firefox odpowiedział -"This does not sound like an issue with Firefox, but is something that the Google support team should be able to help you with" Na stronie www.google.com pojawia się ikona zalogowania, ale i tak nie wszystkie usługi związane z Google są dostępne. Niedostępne są wtedy — Google konto, Google Play, Gmail, Meet, Chat, Dysk, Kalendarz, Zdjęcia, - to tylko te najważniejsze niedziałające." Pliki cookie są włączone. 25.12.2023 ten problem nie istniał. Próbowałam przywrócić Firefox na wcześniejszą datę instalacji, ale to nic nie dało. Rozszerzenia i wtyczki odinstalowałam.
