Hi, I seem to have an issue with Firefox rendering pages with artifacts. I use Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon, video adapter is Intel HD 4000. Currently running 6.2 kernel, tried to fall back to 5.15 which didn't change anything. Attached the examples, the first 2 are screenshots of the about:support page, the issue appear there consistently but not necessarily at the same place. I've tried to open Firefox in the Troubleshooting mode, and the artifact appeared right in the dialog asking for restart! (see pic. 3) Enabling software WebRender (gfx.webrender.software=true) fixes the issue.

about:support page:

when HW compositing is on: https://termbin.com/7ith
when SW compositing is on: https://termbin.com/rlme

I have tested memory with memtest86+ overnight with no errors, CPU has been tested by Prime95 for 3-4 hours, the iGPU seems to be working fine either in Unigine Heaven, GpuTest and glmark tests. Is there a way to fix the issue other than disabling HW compositing?

Am I understanding this correctly?

HTML backup (bookmarks) doesn't support tags and annotations, but JSON backup does, and JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, but HTML backup does?

So, what I can do, is restore my (saved) bookmarks using JSON backup, then restore the HTML backup, this would get my tags and annotations, and the website favicons back? But the downside, I will need to remove duplicates?

Hello,

On MacOS 14.0(Sonoma) Firefox 118.0.2 (64-bit), facing the problem with web.whatsapp.com chat messages. The timestamps for the messages are displayed in UTC and not as per the system time(IST, in my case).

- web telegram shows correct timestamps, opened in same browser session - web whatsapp on Chrome shows correct timestamps - fingerprinting is set to false(was not touched at all).

Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks. -Sachin

Greetings:

I regularly access the ‘Bill O’Reilly DotCom’ site via Mozilla Firefox. Recently following a service interruption (now corrected), I could not open the site at the homepage (https://www.billoreilly.com) through any browser. Eventually, the issue self-corrected on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, but persists at Firefox. Whenever I enter "https://www.billoreilly.com" into the address line, I am instead booted over to a site at "https://na.billoreilly.com/" (see image), an all-white blank page save for the 'Bill O'Reilly DotCom' logo and a message reading:

"BillOReilly.com is not available in this country. We apologize for any inconvenience."

The insertion of the 'na.' into the homepage address might indicate a default change in access possibly caused by a virtual private network being shifted to a different region, with 'na' connoting another country. But my VPN is set for 'United States' and is presently disconnected. Repeatedly removing the ‘na.’ from the address line and manually entering the correct home page address is useless – it continues to reinsert the ‘na.’ And as indicated, my Chrome and Edge browsers have no such problem accessing this homepage, so this is obviously an issue relative to Firefox.

Fortunately, I can freely access 'Bill O'Reilly Dotcom' content through their other links. But the loss of the homepage is nonetheless a nuisance. Please impart any information or wisdom you may have on ameliorating this issue. I have contacted 'Bill O'Reilly Dotcom' about this matter as well

I had to reset my PC without being able to back it up first. I found the saved bookmark jsonlz4 files in the Windows.old folder and tried using Import and Backup in the bookmarks manager, but the bookmarks wont load. I tried https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html to convert the file to json but that wouldn't load either. I even tried converting the file to HTML and import that way without success. It gives me the notification that restoring will replace all my current bookmarks, but nothing happens after that.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. How can I restore my bookmarks? I'm on Windows 10.

Session lost during Windows update, now I can't force Firefox to recover the session from my sessionstore.jsonlz4 file

After a windows update yesterday, when I started Firefox it didn't load my previous session as usual. Previously, I've been able to go to settings and restore the session, but there were no options for that and the relevant session wasn't shown in the recently closed tabs or windows, even though the history was intact. It loaded a new/blank window, and since then when I close and either re-open or try to restore a previous session, it only opens the tabs that I've opened today.

Firefox 118.0.2 (64-bit), Windows 10 PC.

Here are the steps I've taken:

  1. Turned off the "Open previous windows and tabs" in the startup options to get access to the "restore previous session" option
  2. Gone to the profile folder and copied, then removed the contents of the sessionstore-backups folder
  3. Copied the relevant backup session file (looks like it has the tabs I need when I scan it) to my desktop and renamed it "sessionstore.jsonlz4"
  4. Replaced the existing "sessionstore.jsonlz4" file in the root profile folder with the new one from my backups
  5. Reopened Firefox

It still just loaded my tabs from today, and doesn't show the session I'm looking for in recently closed tabs or recently closed windows. When I go to about::sessionstore, it says it's having trouble getting my tabs and pages back, and there's no option to reload a session.

I checked my sessionCheckpoints file in my profile root folder, and it only had these values: {"profile-after-change":true,"final-ui-startup":true,"sessionstore-windows-restored":true}

I updated it to include these values and restarted again, but the result was identical: {"profile-after-change":true,"final-ui-startup":true,"sessionstore-windows-restored":true,"quit-application-granted":true,"quit-application":true,"sessionstore-final-state-write-complete":true,"profile-change-net-teardown":true,"profile-change-teardown":true,"profile-before-change":true}

When I open the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in Notepad++ I can read it normally, and when I just double-click to open it in Firefox it appears to parse correctly in terms of both structure and data... the tab 0/entry 0/URL shows the URL of the first tab that I had open, tab 1/entry 0/URL shows the URL of the second tab, and so on. So it looks like the data is there, but I can't seem to force Firefox to load that.

Any suggestions for what I'm missing?

On upgrading to Firefox ver 118.02, I cannot get any toolbar icons to appear in their correct place on the bookmarks toolbar. Instead they are crammed in the middle of the second (address) line. The double chevrons can be used to access the remaining of the toolbar icons.

Dragging a link to the toolbar space is not allowed.

Please fix this. I need easy access to ALL my toolbar icons, and have an expanded search box on the second line.

Hi, Description: Sometimes when I move my cursour over certain elements on a website, black or white Blocks appear. These Blocks are always rectangular but usually not sqare. Oftentimes the block will have Diagonal lines running up to the top left corner of the Box. The apperance seems to be connected to mouse movement. They pop up and dissapear only when the mouse is moved. And stay when they have appeard and the mouse isn't moved. Esspecially highliting things makes them occur. Example images are provided. Occurance: They are not limited to one website, though they don't seem to appear everywhere. Their occurace seems to be consistent. They are not limited to websites however. White boxes can also appear over highlighted text in the URL, regardless of the website. Example image is attatched The Boxes occur in no other Browser and in no other Programm. They have been there for a while, so it's not the version. Tried Fixes: I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. The boxes also appear in Private windows. I used the suggested feature for removing all settings and addons. Interestingly if I run firefox in Troubleshooting mode none of the Boxes appear.

Like I said, I only have these issues in the Firefox browser, so if it is a problem with my system itself I'd love to get your Ideas to what might cause them.

I use Firefox on two different Windows machines, my Android phone, and my Android tablet. I am signed in to the same sync account on all of them. I would like to be able to see the history from other devices, or preferably, a chronological list of sites that I have visited in a single list.

I'm currently using Firefox on my home PC and when I click on the "Firefox Account" button, I can see a list of tabs that are open on the various devices. But when I go into History/ManageHistory, I mostly see the history of just this PC. I see some items from other devices, but a very small percentage.

Hello everyone :)

I would like Firefox to use my virtual webcam stream (Nvidia broadcast) by default instead of the hardware webcam (logitech brio)

I found where to control the site permissions for the microphone, the webcam, but unfortunately, it does not allow you to choose the default stream

I use Firefox to do teleconsultation as a doctor, and the web interface that I use always goes to the hardware webcam instead of using Nvidia broadcast which would allow me to hide the background

Is there a way to tell Firefox, or Windows 10, to never broadcast the hardware stream but to always use the virtual stream?

Thank you so much !

Several months ago I lost the ability to bookmark multiple tabs into a new Folder. When I perform the procedure and give the new folder a unique name, the selected bookmarks appear in the generic "Bookmarks Menu" section and the folder I specified with the unique name is created but is empty. Also, I cannot even store a single tab to an existing folder of Bookmarks. When I select the existing folder after CNTRL+D, the bookmark just goes to my generic "Bookmarks Menu" section and not to the existing folder I selected. I have reloaded Firefox but the problem continues. Can someone help me? Thanks.
