Until recently, I resisted allowing updates for Firefox because of the announcements of changes to prevent access to some technical kinds of website which I use. These include the public websites of the Paris Observatory which include useul informational ftp pages with important text, data and software files.
I did recently allow a Firefox update, and now I find that I am cut off from access to these ftp pages. How can I re-enable access to ftp? If it can't be done in the new version of Firefox, how can I return to an older Firefox version that does allow such access?

When I use Firefox on my Mac, no matter what I have tried it keeps defaulting to the dreaded Bing Search Engine. I understand it has to do with Microsoft, but I don't use any of their products because I don't like them. In settings/search I can restore the default search engines & delete Bing, but it always reverts back to insisting on using Bing again. I have followed several threads about this issue without permanent resolution. Help??

I am still stumped as to why Firefox crashes, IF and that's a big IF, my session is restored, why my tabs are blank but the website names are still on the tabs. Click to reload sometimes works, while other times it doesn't. Google, Facebook, Twitter, WordPress websites I am logged into and others will not load anymore for at least an hour. The only way to access them is to open a private window. What is happening to this browser that causes these sites to not load anymore? Any clearing the browser history/cache doesn't bring these sites back. They will only come back an hour after the crash. I've also cleared my ISP cache too (ipconfig/flushdns).

I have to look at lots of .pdf files and this a bit annoying as I have to keep deleting all the files I dont want. The dialog box opens and I always choose open rather than save but Firefox has already saved a copy to my desktop. How can I stop this autosave please ? Cheers.

My microphone does not work properly in Firefox, it sounds very low and bad.
I have a Corsair HS35 Stereo headset and my sound driver is Realtek HD Audio 2nd output.
I have tested my microphone in other browsers and other kind of applications like Google Chrome, Brave, Windows Voice Recorder, WhatsApp Desktop, etc. and the microphone works fine. It only works badly in Firefox.
I did the test with a portable version of Firefox, and, as with the installed version, the microphone was malfunctioning.
I've also noticed that Firefox lowers the microphone volume automatically (how do I prevent this?), yet even if I turn it all the way up it still sounds very low and bad.
What can I do about it?

I need a FireFox feature that allows me to access the typical Cable Modem Gateway Web Manager addresses (192.168.0.1, 192.168.100.1, etc.) even when they have no security certificate.
I have been using a Arris SURFboard SBG6782-AC Wireless Cable Modem Gateway (purchased at TARGET) for over five years without significant issues. About three weeks ago my MoCA network began having issues. I tried to login to the WEB Manager of the Gateway at (192.168.0.1) using FireFox. I got the following FireFox Msg:

An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.0.1. Peer using unsupported version of security protocol.
Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION

This website might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported by Firefox.
I finally used an old version of "Internet Explorer" which allowed me to bypass the security warning and connect via a direct ethernet port of the gateway. Evidently someone (Spectrum claims they didn't) downloaded a different firmware version into my Gateway. (D30GW-EAGLE-1.5.4.0-GA-10-NOSH) i.e. not the factory original version. The WEB Manager interface is different, password requirements are enhanced, the MoCA feature can't be enabled, and it seems Arris no longer provides a security certificate for the 192.168.0.1 Gateway address.
Considering the complete lack of cooperation of Spectrum and Arris, I think it is unlikely that I will ever be able to recover the factory original firmware; So... How about adding an "exception" feature to FireFox settings to allow me to at least access my "unsecure" Gateway. I really don't want to go back to using IE. By the way, I wrote this on a WIN 8.1 HP laptop. My main machine is a Dell XPS8300 running WIN 10.

I also have found that sometimes when I add a device is adds the Machine name which I prefer and today I logged out all of my devices and found that it added it and named it a generic name "Firefox 99, Windows 10" Which if grave concern as this could be Any Device. Can someone please let me know how this feature in version 99.01 is suppose to name computers and also can you still rename devices and if so how would you change the name, or if there is a link to documentation on this feature as it has changed. Hi everyone; Recently my FB account got hacked and I went through hell and back to get it recovered. Funny thing is, it still doesn't work, it did briefly for the initial login just enough time to enable a 2 step challenge for which I selected SMS, NOT any security key via USB. As you can see in the picture, every time when I try to login (or switch in FB from a backup account into the primary), I'll get this message. Now it's stating that it's a Firefox/Mozilla request but it only appeared after my FB was hacked, never before. Could a developer/SME please take a look at this? Current Version 99.0.1 (64-bit)
