My laptop updated (I sure can't call it an upgrade) to version 102 and I wish it didn't. I actually got burnt once before from a Thunderbird update and it took me months to manually fix. I seriously thought of leaving Thunderbird as an email client at that time but I figured turning off the automatic updates would at least keep the program working and I wouldn't get burnt again. Well, I was wrong. The update to version 102 has been a disaster to my address book and the automatic searching in the TO/CC/BCC fields. Here are some details:
The current issue from an update to version 102 is the address book.
I used to be able to type in a name in the email TO/CC/BCC and get the person or list I wanted. Now the TO/CC/BCC automatic search DOES NOT FIND ANY lists I have created for ease of use. When I type in a name in the TO/CC/BCC field, sometimes no suggested names show up, and when a name is found it is not the primary email address, it's the secondary email address or an email address that I haven't used for years (I don't even know where this address came from because I removed them from the address book). Strangely the current email address doesn't even show up in the search.
Going into the Address book app is even worse. I can't search some names shown on the screen below! NO lists can be found in any search and the mailboxes on the left don't appear to have all of the email names I have had before and there are doubles and triples of some email addresses that appear to be the same in the details of the person.
I have been working on this problem for a week now and have been searching on the web for help. I have found a lot of similar issues but can't find hardly anything on version 102, other than people asking how to downgrade.
Downgrade sounds like a great idea but it doesn't look like something that is easy to do and if I have to put that much effort or risk into a downgrade I might as well take the time to move to another free email program.
Please help me fix this address book/lookup issue!!! I have used Thunderbird for years and years and I really liked the ease of use in the past. In fact, I have installed Thunderbird on quite a few other computers and suggested they donate to Thunderbird to keep development going.
