I've written about this before and never got a working answer. I have to use Chrome or internet explorer for some work because FireFox won't open the sites. This problem hasn't been fixed by I clearing cache and cookies as recommended back when I first asked a year or so ago.

Now the latest website I haven't been able to use is the Post office! USPS.com -- If I try to track a mail piece using my tracking number the site can't bring it up. The site tries for long time then tells me to try later. When I try with another browser such as Chrome, the result is there within a couple of seconds. It looks like I'm going to have to leave FireFox which I hate as I've used it so long - over ten years at least.

Hello,

I have been working with OpenTable support for 2 months. We finally resolved it is not on their end.

Issue: When opening opentable.com the website loads and then a blank page is presented at the end. You can see a flash of the base site and any links that were attempted.

Items attempted to resolve:

  • clear cache and history
  • updated firefox site
  • downloaded, uninstalled and reinstalled firefox
  • incognito mode
  • removed all all ons/plug ins
  • tried links to pages outside of opentable.com

I have their responses and what they have attempted (in emails should you want). I also have snapshots of what I see. The odd thing is completely removing firefox and installing should have fixed it but it didn't.

One thing that does work is links to opentable from restaurants (email or from their websites). Initiating from the base browser does not work.

I am on Windows 10 and all updates have been installed.

Hello! Like many before me, the tabs crash every time I got to YouTube. The only message I get is

"Gah. Your tab just crashed. We can help! Choose Restore This Tab to reload the page." This option does NOTHING to solve the issue.

Not sure why, but I've never had this issue before until about a week ago. I don't want to use another browser. I prefer Firefox.

I am currently using Firefox 121.0.

Any information/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello, Why does Firefox (121.0.1 (64-bit) macOS 14.2.1 anyways) apply a gradient color overlay to the Business Logos in Google SERPs?

I.e., typically the website's Favicon is pulled or an image written into Schema data to display the company logo next to the search result excerpt. But lately, and apparently only in FF, the logos are discolored by some kind of overlay?

Please see attached comparison between Chrome and FF. Chrome displays the logos unaltered, and FF displays them with this crazy obnoxious overlay/ color correction.

As far as I can tell, this is coming from FF as I don't see it in any other browsers/ devices. Chrome, FF Developer Edition, MS Edge, and Safari do not alter the logo colors.

Is there anyway to request the Mozilla FF stop doing this? I can't possibly begin to imagine how this is helpful in anyway to users... but of course I'm open to hearing any logic behind this decision, if in fact this is coming from FF.

Thank you all for your time and help!

I recently traveled to Australia for two weeks. While there, I used my mac laptop (with Firefox as my primary browser) on a mix of both wifi-without-VPN and hotel wifi with a VPN back to my home network activated.

I have been back home for more than a week. Other browsers on the same laptop as well as other devices (like my phone) that I took with me on the trip correctly reflect my location (east coast, USA). However, Firefox stubbornly insists that I am still in Australia. The net effect of this has been to break my access to YouTubeTV, which is not available in Australia.

I have tried: - Logging fully out of my google account on firefox and logging back in (at which point the 2FA prompt on my phone says I'm trying to log back in from Australia) - Deleting all cookies, cache and website data - Fully uninstalling Firefox, including deleting the Firefox folder in ApplicationSupport

None of these have had any effect.

Within YouTubeTV, I can force an update to my location, which will temporarily reflect correctly that I am in the US. But it still won't let me play anything if I'm using Firefox, and within Firefox, will soon revert to location unknown. Other browsers on this laptop, and other devices, work fine.

I am at my wit's end. Please advise.

I am writing from an enterprise environment and I have been directed to the community page by Mozilla support to seek answers. This approach seems somewhat unreasonable for an enterprise setting and it has led me to consider discontinuing their product within our organization. I had requested support to send me a copy of my previous correspondence as I had forgotten some details, but this request was ignored, which is disappointing.

I am skeptical about receiving the help or answers I need here. If there is a more direct line to Mozilla support, I would greatly appreciate being redirected there.

We are currently using Firefox 121.0 and are attempting to implement the Applied Epic extension. I have updated the ADMX policy.

Originally, the reg key flip I created did work but something has changed since then. See screenshot of this. I followed the guide provided at https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/v5.5/docs/index.md, which instructed me to place the registry key in Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\1. However, the guide did not specify whether this should be in HKLM or HKCU. I tried this instead, and it did not work.

I also attempted to implement the extension via GPO, but this was unsuccessful. I tried the new Extension Management system as well, but to no avail.

Here is the JSON configuration I used: {

 "AppliedEpicExtension@gmail.com": {
   "installation_mode": "force_installed",
   "install_url": "https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/4143256/applied_epic_extension-3.16.3.xpi"
 }

}

Despite following the guide and trying multiple methods, none of the options seem to work. I would appreciate any guidance on what I might be doing wrong.

Hi.

This message has three sections: little background, little rant, and little help from my friends.

Little background: I use PCs since Commodore 64, and internet since dial-up modems. Apart for some curiosity attempts with other browsers, I always used Firefox. Back then you either could do some DIY or you were done for. So, I am not a noob. And yet I am not a programmer, and do not have to damn be in order to use a damn internet browser. I have no words to express how negatively the choice of changing the behavior of the X button, to make it disappear when a certain amount of tabs are open, affects my user experience with Firefox. I tolerated it version after version. Found mentions of about:config tweaks which never worked. Found mentions to css codes which seemed so complicated that I just gave up (I also don't have much capacity for such things atm). I was ready to get rid of Firefox today after all this time of being loyal. I would have, if it was not for Cor-El. (Cor-El you can put this testimonial on your website if you'll ever start a consulting business).

Little rant: I SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH HATE bad UX Design! And the FIRST definition of bad UX Design is when a designer imposes their own tastes and preferences on the users, or makes assumptions (based on their own usage) about how users would do things. I don't give the lesser s... if Firefox's UX Designers usually only have few tabs open, or don't mind clicking on a tab to make the damn X button appear, or would gladly abandon their beloved ergonomic mouse to buy a standard one with a mid button just to close tabs, of whatever the f... was going on in their minds when they decided to remove such an ESSENTIAL FEATURE!!! This change is WRONG! Nobody asked for it, nobody wants it, nobody likes it. The X button was not disturbing anybody. WHY must we tweak some f... about:config setting or ask in this Community for some css code to get back what should have never been removed!!!??? DO YOUR JOB, which is to make OUR user experience better, OUR, not yours!!!

Little help from my friends: After quick searches over a long time where I couldn't dedicate more resources to this, I came here determined to dig deep to find a solution. And I've found a few posts with answers from Cor-El. I followed his instructions in THIS post to configure a css file with the code that he provided in THIS other post (because I thought I didn't want the delay offered by the code he provided in the former post). Problem solved.

Now a question for Cor-El: Is it just me or the solution with the two browser.tabs settings does not work? It's the first thing I tried. I went from 50/50 to 200/200 to see if size matters. But no chance. Maybe there is another setting that must be activated for these to have effect? Or was their effect on the X button removed in newer Firefox versions (like the UX Destroyers really hate us)? Btw, I wanted to see how the delay thing would work, so I tried the code you gave in the first post, and it didn't have any effect. Whereas the code you modified for a guy in THIS post works perfectly. What could be the reason?

And 2 requests: - can you make some guide or pinned post about this, where you put together the info you gave in different posts? Something with your super easy instructions how to create a css file, and the two codes (with and without delay). And if the browser.tabs solution can still work, that too. All info in one single place, easy to find. - can you point me to a (possibly ADHS friendly) resource to more css codes for other useful tweaks, and to an explanation of what all about:config settings do? I like to tweak things to my needs. But I get overwhelmed if I have to read through tons of material. Thanks :)

Bonus Material, Little Rant part 2: It's good and nice that people help each other and I am thankful, but it does not need to come to this. Sure, I've read that the (ridiculous) reason behind the choice of making the X button disappear was to avoid accidental closure of tabs. But WHY taking for granted that we are some !diots who can't even use a mouse properly? And even if it happens once, we can still go to the damn "recently closed tabs"! But no, they had to remove the X button for all of us, to prevent a bunch of !%#@! from maybe sometime accidentally closing a tab. Why not just adding an option in the settings (NOT in some hidden "about:config") to let us choose if we want to have the damn button or not? Btw, a lot of these about:config tweaks are really useful and not dangerous at all and should imo be included in the normal settings. Keeping things simple and tidy does NOT mean reducing options. Unless you're Apple.

Please God-zilla let these [censored content] UX Designers read this post.

Amen and happy new Xear.

Hello Mozilla Support,

Since 2 upgrades ago, anytime I try to watch a livestream, my browser slows right down and then crashes.

I don't care why its happening, I just want a definitive fix for the issue.

I'm so aggrieved at this happening constantly, if you cannot provide a firm resolution to this issue, i will simply move to another browser.

I've tried your about:config setting restart to false and other fixes but still keeps happening.

I await your reply.

With Regards,

Mark

3 tabs open, left firefox idle on pc and walked away for an hour. Came back, system barely responsive, managed to grab a screenshot. This happens every single day. If I leave firefox idle, or in background for any amount of time, it eats up all the ram and the system grinds to a halt and crashes. Can't get logs, or use profiler. This happens every single day, multiple times per day and only when firefox is in background or pc is idle. I don't use more than 3-4 tabs, this happens on random websites, sometimes even when no websites are open. I can literally open firefox with no tabs and let it sit idle and same thing happens.

Hello! Having happily used Firefox for many years, I'm now finding two related issues:

1) Firefox is automatically increasing the font size on webpages (not all webpages, but many, inc. Google searches, Amazon, the Guardian). I have to refresh the page to get it back down to regular size. For example: I do a Google search; click on a link; return to the Google search, and at that point the text jumps larger. It keeps getting larger until I refresh, when the process starts again.

2) My Yahoo mail is unreadable in Firefox. The text is either too big or unreadably small - even within the same email. For example: I open an email that is a response to one I sent; the text of my original email is really large, and the text of the response is really small (like, 5 points or less).

I can't think of anything that I did that acted as a trigger for these problems. My Firefox is up to date. I'm using a Mac, and running Ventura 13.4; I recently upgraded from Monterey and had both these issues on Monterey and on Ventura.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I encounter this error only on my.nintendo.com. However nobody else I know encounters this (even using Firefox) and I do not encounter it on Edge browser.

When I open the site it stays for a few seconds, then loads an error page. Then this error page reloads itself every few seconds. I tried to include some Inspect tool details. Before a 404 error there are 303 and 302 responses. I live near my friends who do not have this issue (same ISP too) so it's not a regional issue. In the screenshots the four (and two more further down) red GETs below are all "304 Not Modified" status'd

I'm not sure what type of info I can dump from the browser or how, to help diagnose this. I'm on Windows 11 (though I was having this isue on my dual-booted Linux install too), on version 121.0.1 (see screenshot of About Firefox for more?)

Thank you for your time reading my post, please help me report this with more details.

I am working on a website that uses Unicode extensively. Some glyphs do not show correctly. In particular U+2A75, which is double equals. I am using Ubuntu, and I have installed Unifont. In the image, I have opened Firefox on the right and Chromium on the left, the URL is https://www.compart.com/en/unicode/U+2A75 Chromium is displaying the page correctly, Firefox is not. However, in both cases, the character is correctly displayed in the text in the Tab header after the favicon. browser.display.use_document_fonts is set to 1 I have read the Support page on editing fonts. Inspecting the element as suggested in the 'Editing Fonts' page, (see 2nd image uploaded), I see - in the source pane on the left, the character is correctly displayed (as in the tab text) - the Font being used to display the character in the rendered HTML is 'Source Sans Pro', which probably does not have the glyph for U+2A75. - the Font supplied by the website (presumably it does have the glyph) is list as a font, but I can't find a way to have it display the element.

I have tried to change the font family for the selected element in the Rules pane, but that does not work.

I have tried a variety of other changes in about:config but nothing seems to work.

I have two thoughts - the Font family for some Unicode ranges may be set for security reasons, and so U+2A75 is forced to some other Font - the fallback mechanism is not working to select a font when the glyph is not in the first family.
