I gotta ask... why isn't there a setting to remove private browsing on firefox? Now yeah sure it's free security but we got add ons for that. I've always felt like private browsing and incognito stuff is just a way to go to pornhub feeling secured from criticism. That's why I quit Chrome (+ being able to watch YouTube with ads for free) so I gotta ask again... why isn't there a setting to remove private browsing on firefox?

Hi there, When I try to use Firefox Focus by tapping the search bar (see screenshot), my phone keyboard does not appear. No matter how many times I tap. I have tried clearing cache, deleting the app's data, restarting my phone, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. None of these fixed the issue. This makes the app completely unusable. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

EDIT: The keyboard app I am using is Gboard - it came pre-installed on my phone.

I've just been upgraded to Firefox 123.0 on my PC and it has not gone well. 1. None of my opened tabs were there. There was just 1 tabs announcing the new version.. 2. I tried to sync from my laptop and the tabs all say "New Tab". When I "Select All Tabs" and Refreshed, they just continuously circle and do not load. This is the worst upgrade I have ever seen. The browser is totally useless now, because I cant get anything to run. Can I go back to a prior version?

Whenever I have 2 tabs open, Firefox always takes up 2gb of ram. I already turned on minimum memory usage in about:memory and turned off hardware acceleration.

For context, my specs: 8gb ram i5 1240p (integrated graphics)

I know you're meant to use up all of your ram, but I typically have other apps pen to multitask.

After some time of idle, i.e. leave the computer for some time, say over night. No suspend or hibernate. Back to the computer next morning, unlock. Then Firefox appears frozen/hang, can't switch tab (clicking tab has no response, but not really frozen, sometimes responses after dozens of seconds of lag), page also has no response. Then after around half to 2 minutes, everything back to normal.

During the "hang", CPU load is load, no memory stress (swapping/paging).

Environment:

Firefox 123.0 (64-bit), (actually it bothered me for years)

Linux 6.6.15-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.6.15-2 (2024-02-04) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hi, Since few weeks ago, firefox never restores my previous tabs/session (I lost a year worth of tabs..), no matter what/how I tried, it keeps starting with a clean session, not even the history in there. I tried: Deleting profile, creating a new one Resetting Firefox Fully delete FF and delete the profile folder Heck, I even used librewolf, and even FF on linux and also Librewolf, same issue!!

I notice this happen once I enable the sync (login to my account), there's no setting in my account says to never restore the session or something similar.

How to solve it?! I need to have the tabs open again..

I'm running Firefox 123.0.1 on Linux Mint 21.2. Something changed after my last update. I visit a number of web sites at which I scroll down a window to a link, click on it to open it, read that link, and then return to the previous page. Examples are news sites like slashdot.org, associated press, or arcamax. Firefox used to return to the place in the original site page where I had clicked on a link. Now, it returns to the top of the original site page, and I have to scroll down again to where I had clicked on a link. I can right click on a link, open a new tab, and then close that tab, but that requires multiple clicks, and I used to just click/click. Is there a way to set up Firefox to go back to the previous behavior? Thanks in advance. ;

Hi, I use windows hibernate a lot. One vulnerability of hibernate is that the contents of RAM get written to the hard drive in unencrypted form in a file called hiberfil.sys. This means that any encryption keys in RAM used to access encypted files will be written to hiberfil.sys and can be extracted if a malicious party has physical access to the drive.

Thus, the question:

Does Firefox store encryption keys, passwords, or log in details in RAM at any time while in use?

It only backs up the tabs from your last close, so if you had a problem and closed twice, all your tabs are gone. There are many many easy ways to change it so this can never happen to people anymore. Why has this not been fixed after all this time? I am a retired IT pro and this has even happened to me. It is horrible. What can users do to not have this happen, since the developers apparently can't be bothered? And please don't tell me not to keep so many tabs open JUST because the browser sucks at protecting them. Any good news appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to skip the wait for the "Accept the Risk and Continue" button to appear? I assemble and set up copiers for a living. Every single one of them has a self-signed certificate. I see this "Potential security risk ahead" screen dozens of times a day because of this. I understand why I'm seeing it. I understand the importance of a security warning like that. What I would like to do is skip the delay between when you click on advanced and the "Accept risk and continue" button becoming available to be clicked on. That or some way to disable that security warning specifically for self-signed certificates would be ideal.
