When I click on a link within a tab, a second window automatically opens. How can I stop it.

For example: If I am on Amazon.com and click on an item to get more information, another window opens that I did not request or want to open. I then have to close it, go back to my original page and select the item again.

Also, I have pop ups blocked and am still getting them........a lot of them.

How can these two issues be fixed, as they take up more time than my actual use takes.

Hi Rita, I'm a packrat, so not personally very familiar with clean-up or de-duplicating tools. You might try a forum dedicated to Windows questions. For example: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/

This additional window is not something from the site, it's unrelated, such as advertising?

One potential cause of this is an unwanted extension. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that reduce/eliminate the popups?

Thank you for your help. I believe your suggestion helped. I have had several problems and have been working on resolving them one at a time. I believe I have finally resolved them.

Do you know of any documentation I can get that would address all of the files on my system? In my quest to get my system cleaned up, I noticed there are folders embedded within folders and are duplicated in several different locations. I would just like to run only the files I really need and eliminate extra files.

I really appreciate your help. Thank you again.
